A Note From Michael O'Neal

Dear Friends,

Portrait of Michael O'Neal

There have been a number of recent changes in the MOS family and I wanted to let you know about them. At the end of June we said farewell to Board Chair Lee Herring, who has served our organization with vision and commitment for eighteen years (thirteen of them as Chair). While we will miss him in this leadership role, I am pleased he will continue as a valued member of the MOS chorus tenor section.

Beginning in July as our new Board Chair is Clay Hales, who, by the way, is also a member of the MOS tenor section! Clay has served on the board for several years and will do an outstanding job in this new role. We look forward to his leadership of our excellent Board.

I am especially excited to inform you of two changes on our staff. In each case, a valued staff member has been promoted to a new and expanded position. Annemarie Boehnlein has served as our Financial Administrator since last October and has been so efficient and dedicated that the board has named her our new Director of Operations, a position that will include both financial and chorus management responsibilities.

Cammie Stephens has been on the MOS staff since 1999 and has served as our Chorus Manager since 2004. She has become indispensable to MOS as her role has grown gradually to encompass a number of tasks and responsibilities not usually performed by a Chorus Manager. Everything she has done has been performed with excellence and devotion and the board is pleased to name her as our new MOS Executive Director. In this role, Cammie will assume leadership of all administrative responsibilities, which will allow me to dedicate myself primarily to artistic concerns. I know you will join me in congratulating both Cammie and Annemarie on their new positions within MOS.

MOS is the organization it is because of its singers, staff and board members. The people I have mentioned in this letter are all perfect examples of individuals who help MOS achieve its mission of "engaging, educating and enriching Atlanta-area singers and audiences with compelling choral experiences which are innovative, multicultural, and multigenerational."

In Appreciation,

Michael

MOS is the proud recipient of funding at both the county and state level for our 2015-2016 concert season.  Georgia Council for the Arts has awarded a Partner Grant to MOS in the amount of $10,000.  The Fulton County Board of Commissioners, under the recommendation of the Fulton County Arts Council, approved $8,000 for general operating support.  Both grants will support our concerts and outreach projects such as our community Messiah Sing-Along and our MOS Remembers project.  We thank these sponsors for their affirmation and support of our mission to bring choral programs that engage, educate, and enrich our North Fulton community!
