GOAL Deadline is Dec. 22. Direct your state taxes to Mount Pisgah today!

The Georgia Goal Scholarship Program deadline is quickly approaching. Forms must be received by Dec. 22. It's expected that the $58 million available for the program will be claimed on the first day, Jan. 1,  2017, resulting in pro-rata of about 50% from the Georgia Department of Revenue. Your participation is more important than ever!

This year, Mount Pisgah participation is significantly behind compared with the $294,393 we applied for from the state program last year. In total, we are down 31 percent (about 60 participants). Your participation is greatly appreciated!

WHAT IS GEORGIA GOAL?
Through Georgia's Education Expense Credit, the GOAL Scholarship Program gives taxpayers the opportunity to put some of our tax dollars toward improving K-12 education in our state. We keep it "local" by designating the private school at which those dollars must be used. This money is earmarked for the state, not your pocket, unless it gets redirected. This remarkable tax credit law allows us to admit excellent, deserving student applicants to our school.  To participate and receive your tax credit, go  here .

HOW IT WORKS:
  • Submit your form 2017 online tax credit application at www.goalscholarship.org. Nothing more is required until payment is due in mid-March of 2017.
  • GOAL will submit your information on Jan. 1
  • You will receive approval from GOAL by early February.
  • You have 60 days from the date of approval to send payment to fund your tax credit.
  • At a later date, you will then receive the tax form to submit with your 2016 tax return, with a dollar-for-dollar credit.
Because the Department of Revenue will pro-rata the amount the School applies for, please submit the maximum allowed based on your filing status.

MAXIMUM LIMITS:
  • $1,000 individual filing separately
  • $2,500 married filing jointly
  • $1,250 married filing separately
  • Up to $10,000 - Owner of S-Corp, LLC or Partnership
  • Up to 75 percent of Georgia tax liability - C-Corp or Trust
Your prior contributions to GOAL have had a profound impact by providing an outstanding education to students from grateful families in our community. Mount Pisgah, our community and our state are improved thanks to your involvement!

Volleyball Coach Leah Longoria Selected for Thirty Under 30 Award

Mount Pisgah Varsity Volleyball coach Leah Longoria was recently selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association to its inaugural list of Thirty Under 30 coaches in the nation.
In her first year guiding the Patriots, Longoria took a team that had gone 9-26 a year earlier and helped the same squad to a 31-5 record. Mount Pisgah finished in the second round of the GHSA state playoffs, marking the farthest the program has been in the postseason in school history. Mount Pisgah lost in the second round to the eventual 2016 State Finalists and the 2015 State Champions. Under Longoria, the Patriots finished in the top 24 in the state out of all seven divisions. Only two other 1A schools were in the top 25 -- the two state finalist teams. Before coming to Mount Pisgah, Longoria served as the Varsity assistant at Holy Innocents Episcopal School and won two back-to-back AA State Championships. Congratulations Coach Longoria!
Basketball Admission Funds to Help Buy Christmas Toys For YMCA

Your attendance at this Saturday's three basketball games versus Fellowship will help buy Christmas toys to be donated to the Alpharetta YMCA. As a thankful gesture during this season of giving, Mount Pisgah Athletics is send our basketball players shopping. Using the admission funds collected, members of our boys and girls basketball teams will go shopping for toys. Those toys will then be brought to the Alpharetta YMCA to be distributed to children on Christmas.
Art Barn Animals Visit Preschool

Preschool classes this week were visited by some very special (and furry) guests from The Art Barn. A collection of animals (donkey, goat, chickens, bunnies, dove, horse) spent time with the children throughout the day as part of a lesson to introduce children to the animals of Bethlehem and the role they played in Jesus's life.
