A Message from Assistant Principal George Benzie

Bonjour à tous,

Last week, the middle school celebrated National French Week. Each day students were met by relaxing French music as they entered the building in the morning. Students also participated in “Pause Française” on Wednesday afternoon, where they displayed their projects on French-speaking countries and regions of France and were able to sample some food from those areas as well. It was great to see so many students and parents enjoying the French culture and cuisine!

Chaleureusement,

George

2016 MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey
Wednesday, November 16th

This is a reminder that we will be giving MWAHS survey to students in grades 6-8 on November 16, 2016.

The survey is anonymous, meaning your child will not put his or her name on the survey and no one will know what they write.  There will be no identifying information on any of the surveys.

Completing this survey is voluntary.  Your child’s grades in school will not be affected by whether or not s/he participates.  Your child can also decide not to take the survey or skip any question s/he doesn’t wish to answer.

The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment is a Federal Law that requires us to notify you ahead of time about the survey, and give you the chance to look at it, so you can let us know if you don’t want your child to take part.  If you want to see the survey before deciding, a copy will be available at Wayland Middle School from November 7- November 14, 2016.

If you DO NOT want your child to take part in the survey, please complete the attached form and have your child return it to his or her school by Monday, November 14, 2016.

Thank you.

Gift Your Child

The PTO has now raised over 77% of our $15,000 fundraising goal for this year.  Visit the WMS PTO on Facebook to see some of last year’s grants in action around school.  Remember, this year the PTO will not be asking you to pay dues or to sell gift wrap or cookie dough – we instead ask that you Gift Your Child.  100% of your donation is tax deductible and eligible for matching gift donations, and every dollar directly supports the PTO’s many programs at WMS.  Donate today after registering at MySchoolAnywhere (the new online directory) or at http://waylandpto.org/middle-school-pto/donations-and-purchases/.  You can also mail a check (made out to “Wayland PTO”) to Wayland Middle School PTO, 201 Main Street, Wayland, MA 01778.  The suggested donation is $100 per middle school student.

My School Anywhere

Be sure to register for the new, online directory at MySchoolAnywhere.com.  This directory will replace the traditional printed version, but directory information will now be parent-driven.  It is an OPT-IN system, and you MUST register to be included.  For directions on how to register, or for additional FAQs, please visit http://waylandpto.org/myschoolanywhere-online-districtwide-family-directory/
