Welcome to The Family!

Pastor Ulysses Stephen King, Jr., Mrs. Tiffany, and the Memorial Tabernacle Family welcome you to the family.  We invite you to become a member of a family of believers God is using to "reach to teach, teach to change" one person and one block at a time.   We pray you will choose to attend the reunion to receive the love God has given us to give to you specifically!   #Galatians610  #HarvestTime  #HolySpiritRestatMTC
Notes From Sunday's Sermon
"GOD'S GIFT OF GRACE" ( Psalm 96:1-4; Isaiah 9:2-7

On this First Sunday of Advent, the Psalmist envisions all of creation becoming praise singers for God because of God's "marvelous deeds among all people." All of nature is called out to join in the shout: "Let heavens rejoice, seas roar, fields exult, trees and forests shout for joy!" The families of nations are told to sing a new song, to bow down, to dance, and to dec lare and proclaim God's majesty and splendor.

Isaiah locates this joy in the giving of a little Child. He dreams a new day into being, when true authority and dominion will be found, but not in battalions of soldiers; they will cast their bloody uniforms into the flames where they belong. God's new day is about the birthing of a Child who will bear the symbol of dominion on his tiny young shoulders. He will inherit the boy-king David's throne, do battle with evil and bring a realm of justice and peace. This coming Child turns the world of power upside down.

Paul's letter to Titus invites us further into the praise song of our salvation. It is the song of a people loved undeservedly into new life. Paul writes, "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works" (2:11-14). Disciplined by grace! - USK

Season of Advent
December 3 - December 24, 2017

The time before Christmas is Advent, a season of preparation for Christmas. Christians prepare for celebrating the birth of Jesus by remembering the longing of the Jews for a Messiah. In Advent, we're reminded of how much we ourselves also need a Savior, and we look forward to our Savior's second coming even as we prepare to celebrate his first coming at Christmas.

The five candles contrast darkness and light. They are lit in succession, one more each week as we count the Sundays in Advent. On Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, the fifth candle-the Christ candle-is lit. Jesus is the light of the world, and the darkness has not put it out. The full blaze stands for the fulfillment of the promise.

The themes during the four weeks of Advent are Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
