Notes From Sunday's Sermon
"THE HUMBLE and WISE STILL SEEK HIM!" (
Luke 2:8-14)
Somewhere in the fields near Bethlehem, where David many centuries before had also kept sheep (1 Sam. 17:34, 35), a small group of shepherds were keeping watch over their sheep.
To this assembled group of simple shepherds, who were probably pious men who also longed for the coming of the promised Messiah, there suddenly appeared an angel of the Lord. Overcome by the un
expected and supernatural occurrence, fear came upon the shepherds.
But again, the first words of the celestial being are: "Fear not!" While it is natural that man should be afraid when the invisible, the unknown, suddenly becomes visible to him, the angel, know that Christ has been born, comes with the words: "Fear not!" He does not, however, leave it at that, but gives the reason why they need have no fear.
He brings to them the glorious tiding that in Bethlehem, the city of David, on that day, centuries has been fulfilled. For this reason the tidings are joyful to them and to all the people-to all who have looked forward to His coming, to every true member of the people of God. He who has been born is "the Savior," the One who saves from all dangers, need, sin, and death, who safeguards against all disasters and destruction, and who gives blessedness in the fullest sense of the word.
Just as these simple shepherds are the first persons to whom the glad tidings concerning the birth of Christ are communicated, so in turn are the first proclaimers of the Good News. Good news like this compels us today to go tell somebody! -- USK
Because of Christ,
Pastor Ulysses Stephen King, Jr.

Entering 2018 Encouraged, Inspired, and Transformed
Our Goal: The Church must return to God Himself and be AWAKENED to who He is, who we are, and what we must do . . . Make Disciples! (Matthew 28:19-20). Our faith may have been small, but we serve a great God who accomplishes extraordinary things through ordinary people.
Romans 12:2
NKJV reads, "
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
