TIME TO REFLECT AND RESET
Lent is a 40-day preparation for the observance of Christ's passion and Resurrection. It gives us an annual opportunity to trace the history of red
Lent is also a time to “reflect” and “reset.” It’s that time of year not just to focus on what we personally choose to "give up," but rather to “give to” the Christ who died for our sins. Lent 2018 will begin on Wednesday, February 14 and ends on Thursday, March 29.
This Lenten Season I invite you to reflect and focus on the Son of God, Jesus, who gave his life for us. Reflection is an inner conversation—discourse one generates with oneself and with God. Lent affords us an opportunity to reinforce rather than undermine the significance of Christ's person and work.
Second, we need to hit our spiritual “reset button” of making daily prayers and offerings to the Lord. David said, “For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O God, You will not despise.” Our priorities may be out of alignment. Our spiritual lives may have become dull. Lent offers us an opportunity to be transformed and changed, so that you and I will take up the cross and follow Christ in the midst of a suffering world.
