Celebrating Black Excellence
During Black History Month, we celebrate Christ during a special Black History Celebration Sunday, February 25, 2018!  Celebrating what Christ has done in the lives of our members as educators, business owners, community change makers, innovators, developers - all walking boldly in the faith . We will also reflect on what has allowed us to get to this place. 92 years of ministry did not happen by accident. Everything that has occurred has been purposed by God! Invite all you know and share the image below with your networks!

Revelation 5:9-10 NKJV --
9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”
Lent: 40 Days of Reflection, Prayer & Fasting
TIME TO REFLECT AND RESET
Psalm 51:1-17

Lent is a 40-day preparation for the observance of Christ's passion and Resurrection. It gives us an annual opportunity to trace the history of red emption. Lent is also a time to “reflect” and “reset.” It’s that time of year not just to focus on what we personally choose to "give up," but rather to “give to” the Christ who died for our sins. Lent 2018 will begin on Wednesday, February 14 and ends on Thursday, March 29.

This Lenten Season I invite you to reflect and focus on the Son of God, Jesus, who gave his life for us. Reflection is an inner conversation—discourse one generates with oneself and with God. Lent affords us an opportunity to reinforce rather than undermine the significance of Christ's person and work.

Second, we need to hit our spiritual “reset button” of making daily prayers and offerings to the Lord. David said, “For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—these, O God, You will not despise.” Our priorities may be out of alignment. Our spiritual lives may have become dull. Lent offers us an opportunity to be transformed and changed, so that you and I will take up the cross and follow Christ in the midst of a suffering world.
