This Week at Memorial...
I am turning in keys, my name tag, and my “Short Note:" today. It marks the closing of the book for me at Memorial. I have had a wonderful time and feel my job is complete. I am most grateful to the church, the community, and most of all, to the wonderful staff of this great church. The staff has worked hard and done their best to keep the church moving ahead in these days of preparation for the coming of the new pastor.

I am also passing the baton to Rev. Mark Charles or “Charlie” as he prefers. It is his turn to serve this church and I wish him well. He and his family are coming into a wonderful new adventure and I know they will enjoy it.

My prayers and my love will continue for the church and also for Charlie. We welcome him with open hearts and love him and his family already.

Don’t forget who you are and Whose you are, and keep on and never quit.

There will not be a traditional sermon, but an extended time for people to share what God has been doing in their lives. Be thinking about how God has worked in YOUR life and what you might want to share!

Special Icon Workshop Coming to Memorial, September 10 th - 14 th ! Icons are visual representations of invisible realities meant to help us understand spiritual truths and aid in worship and prayer. During this 5-day workshop instructor Kara Nelson will lead the prayerful practice of “writing” a Byzantine style icon. This is a step-by-step process in which we recreate ancient and sacred images using acrylic paints and 23-carat gold. Special emphasis is placed on the contemplative aspects of iconography. Through silence and sharing, work and rest, prayers and meals, we create a unique community, and together invite the Holy Spirit to work in and through us as we paint the holy image of Christ (right). The course fee is $300/person for 5 full days of instruction and
includes all supplies for painting as well as a midday meal. Class will be held each day from 8:30am-4:30pm. This workshop is open to all and does not require previous art experience. Space is limited. To register or inquire further please contact Anna Wright: Beach4doc@comcast.net or 904-206-0355. $100 due by July 1 to hold your space.

Stewardship
Dear Memorial Congregation:
Thank you for helping us achieve our “Second Mile Giving” match! $30,000 of the match was donated from the estate of a long-time member to honor his memory. Another donor gave us $5,000 to add to the above, thus creating this “Second Mile Giving”. Both checks have now been deposited and are reflected on the back of the bulletin. There is still more money coming in and this will be reflected next week. We thank these donors and especially thank our congregation for giving above and beyond your pledges/tithes to meet our Stewardship Budget Line. We truly are a Grace Filled Family of Jesus Followers!!!!
