All proceeds of the event go towards the physical fitness and educational programs of the Center.

The Milford Youth Center after school program is open for youth ages 8-18, free of charge, from 2-6 pm Monday through Friday. We see over 200 youth every day, through this program and the many community and sports organizations that utilize the facility.  The youth of Milford have come to depend on the Youth Center to provide them with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. Your support will help the Milford Youth Center to be able to continue to offer free after school programming and provide a safe and fun environment for the youth of Milford!

All youth who made the pledge, received a free raffle ticket! The JAG Youth Council and MYC are also collaborating with GoodDeedSeed.com, which helps fosters philanthropy in kids, adults, and entire families by giving them a window into the future of one good deed.

 JAG Meeting & Networking Breakfast

Please join us for our next JAG meeting on Wednesday, February 6th at 8:45am at the Milford Police Station Training Room.

Most recently, JAG has been planning a networking breakfast for community mental health providers, schools and parent advocates to address this perceived scarcity of mental health services for youth.  We are joining our effort with Milford Regional Medical Center's Patient Family Advocacy Committee's (PFAC) Mental Health Subcommittee to broaden the discussion to include the hospital and families affected by mental illness.

We would like to first and foremost invite you to attend a FREE networking breakfast scheduled for Wednesday, April 3rd from 8:30-11:30am at the Doubletree Hotel in Milford.   The goal of this breakfast is to "connect the dots" in the Greater Milford area by bringing providers together to facilitate these connections, share best practices and identify the gaps in local resources. The second purpose is to create a local resource directory of mental health providers that can be accessed by school personnel, parents and other health care providers.

Prior to the networking breakfast, we request that you to fill out the this questionnaire by February 27th in order to be included in the resource directory.  These should be emailed to communityimpactinc@gmail.com or faxed to 508-422-0243.

iVision for Girls Update & New Class Soon!

For the first time ABT and Community Impact Inc. ran a new collaborative approach to a fitness program and group therapy for middle and high school adolescents, iVision for Girls. Liane Blyn, owner of Athletic Based Training, and Amy Leone, owner of Community Impact, created the program. Our goals of this program were to educate, empower and inspire young women to be as strong, as confident and as healthy as they can be through weekly group therapy and a fitness program.

We met weekly for eight weeks at ABT and Community Impact in Milford. We had the girls explore their character strengths that have led them to their authentic happiness throughout their lives. We conducted a pre and post test to measure their level of confidence from the first group and the last group.  All of the girls' scores increased! Each of the girls learned that confidence is a choice, and that it was up to them to built their confidence by taking control of how they think about themselves.

At the first group one of the girls stated, "I hope to have a better self esteem at the completion of the group, and I hope to be comfortable in my body as I  dislike working out." At the last group she told us that she had lost 10 pounds from being more aware of what she was eating, exercising in group, and felt so great she was not wearing her jacket all the time to hide behind. She even shared that she wore a dress for the first time in years. Another member explained that through this group she has learned that she can openly talk to people because she understands her strengths and has a good opinion about herself.

Liane of ABT along with Lexi and Amy of Community Impact were so pleased with the results of the group that they are looking forward to starting another group in the near future. If you are interested in further information on our next group please contact Amy Leone at communityimpactinc@gmail.com or at 508-422-0242.
