JAG Youth Council Updates!
We are very excited with the new partnership with New Hope, a local non-profit who  works throughout Massachusetts to build an anti-violence movement to end sexual and domestic violence. Donna and Heather from  New Hope, Inc. of Milford joined us at the Center and gave the JAG Youth Council a miniature presentation on relationships, abusive patterns and bullying followed by some activities. The presentation evoked feelings about other topics that were not apparent issues on the surface. It was a meeting that evoked growth and also-- a connection between members as they all feel the same way regarding many topics that they were unaware about. We  are very thankful that the staff from New Hope came out and presented to some of our Youth and we look forward to the the return in the future!

Victoria Williams, the SCI AmeriCorps member responded to the meeting, "I am very proud of the maturity that was displayed by the Youth Council members when discussing some of these rather serious issues! It helped to create a safe space where some members were comfortable enough to share some of their personal stories and experiences."
Proud moment for our
SCI AmeriCorps member!
We are so proud of our  Social Capital Inc.  AmeriCorps member, Victoria Williams, who presented at the Greater Milford Community Health Network: CHNA 6 meeting this morning at the Milford Senior Center!

Victoria shared her amazing story of perseverance to the group and how she is making real change in her community by serving as an AmeriCorps member at the Youth Center and with the  Juvenile Advocacy Group !

The  MYC & JAG work together to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC & JAG have worked to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
