Town Meeting Supports the Renovation of the Milford Youth Center!

On Monday, May 19, 2014, Milford Town Meeting members overwhelmingly approved, with a 155 to 8 vote, to allocate the funds necessary to renovate the Center! The Milford Youth Center staff, Commission, and Renovation Committee are all very thankful and ecstatic about this outcome and look forward to moving forward!

We would like to express a special thanks to all the groups and individuals that expressed their support through this process! We would especially like to thank the youth and families that came out in full force on the night of Town Meeting! "As you came here tonight and walked past the throng of young children on the sidewalk fighting for something that they care about, that they know, that they love - isn't that what we want our young people doing?" - Selectman Brian Murray at Town Meeting #MYCstrong

The JAG Youth Council and Milford Youth Center participated in the Relay for Life of Greater Milford for the second year in a row!

The JAG Youth Council and Milford Youth Center decided that they wanted to participate in Milford's Relay for Life on May 9th-May 10th to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay teams camp out overnight and take turns walking or running around the high school track. Relay events are up to 24 hours in length and, because cancer never sleeps, each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. The MYC & JAG team reach their goal and raised over $3,000 for the event! We would like to thank everyone who supported our team with donations! For more photos of the event, click here

The MYC & JAG work together to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC & JAG have worked to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
