MYC After School Program Updates!
The Milford Youth Center is full of activities for the month of October!!! New this month will be programs that include: homework room, weight room, arts & crafts, obstacle challenge, movie day, badminton, volleyball, Science Explorey w/Tori and the JAG Youth Council! For entire October calendar, click here. Finally, we will be hosting a Halloween Party on Friday, October 28th, in the evening (no after school program- more info to follow)!

The Milford Youth Center has become the focal point for the children of Milford. It hosts many different activities and events throughout the year for the youth! The Milford Youth Center's after school program is open for youth ages 8-18, free of charge, from 2-6 pm Monday through Friday (check monthly calendar for any changes). All Youth members must be picked up by time of closing (unless they walk home).  Pick up is outside of the building on 24 Pearl St.  There may be additional permission forms to participate, due to some programs being held off site (Transportation is not provided). The game room, gymnasium
and lounge, will be opened daily.

A ll participant s must be a Milford resident and/or attend Milford Schools, to fill out a  registration form  to be a member. Once this form is returned to the Center, the member will be provided with a key tag and ID number. This will be how the Youth Center staff will track attendance. Therefore, all members are required to bring in their key tag in order to enter the facility. If key tag is lost, the Center will charge $1.00 for replacement . You can find out all up-to-date info at our website

Thank you Stacy Middle School and Woodland Elementary for allowing us to come in to do outreach!
Welcome the New Program Coordinator!
We are so excited to welcome Christine Daddario to the MYC staff! Christine, a lifelong resident of Milford, graduated from Framingham State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Nutrition. She continued as a volunteer over the past six years and after 8 years at YOU Inc; a non-profit focused on youth, she returns to us as the Program Coordinator.  She is thrilled to bring exciting new programs to the local youth and is always searching for individuals who would like to share some of their talents at the youth center, by running a class or volunteering for any amount of time.

Thank you DiVittorio Family!
The Youth Center staff had the pleasure of meeting Diane Strauss and Olga DiVittorio last month! Diane and Olga shared stories of John DiVittorio and the armory, while getting a tour of the renovated facility. We would also like to thank Diane and Olga for this very kind email and the amazing photos you shared (click here to see):

Dear Ms. Ward,
Words are not adequate to express our deep thanks for your kindness to us on Friday September second. My mother and I appeared on your doorstep completely unannounced and you invited us in to the Youth Center and gave us a tour that couldn't be beat. You graciously took over an hour out of your busy day to show us all the nooks and crannies of a building that meant so much to us throughout the years.

I moved from Milford to upstate New York in 1979 and my parents moved from Milford to Cape Cod in 1986. We hold much love for the people and places of our hometown so when we visit, it is a very emotional journey. We can't go back to our old house but we can still go back to places that mean so much to us like Sacred Heart Church, family-owned Gene's Variety, and now to the Milford Youth Center. My father John spent 39+ years working on this extraordinary building. It was like another home to us. To see his office, his boiler room, the drill shed, the windows where he hung out the state and US flags, the walls and floors he lovingly maintained was such a thrill for us.

The Milford Youth Center is truly a wonder. Programs, facilities, staff - YOU and your colleagues, field trips, creative use of space, well run, well maintained, safe, nurturing, WOW! I hope the town is fully aware of this great gift you give to the young people of Milford. The building's renovation was so impressive. Your meticulous attention to detail and your requests to preserve historic elements of design really shined through.
Thank you for the tour and thank you for continuing to look after this great building. We hope to stop in to visit again next year when we come back to town.

Milford Summer Food Service Program!
We would like to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who was involved in the  Milford Summer Food Service Program   and for planning tonight's volunteer appreciation dinner at  Trinity Episcopal Church ! The Milford Area Humanitarian Coalition and the  Hockomock Area YMCA   collaborated to operate an official USDA/MA Department of Education summer meal program this summer. The Milford Summer Food Service Program provided over 7,000 lunches at three meal sites in Milford, one being the Milford Youth Center. The Youth Center was able to provide a space to have an open site for the community and to allow our summer camp families to be provided with a free lunch every day! With 44% of kids in Milford eligible for free and reduced lunch during the school year, this program looked to close the hunger gap that these children face during the summer months. Thank you again to the amazing staff, volunteers and sponsors that made this program possible for our community!

Milford Youth Center (MYC) mission  is to provide a safe environment that promotes self esteem, builds character, and fosters the notion of community and the importance of respecting and serving others. For more information, click here.

The  MYC & JAG work together to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC & JAG have worked to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
