After School program Update!

We hope everyone had great summer and enjoying the start of school! We wanted to send another update and inform everyone on the plans going forward for the Center and the After School program this school year! We just got a temporary location confirmed and in the process of getting it finalized. In the meantime, the Center is getting emptied and prepared for the renovation. We will know in the coming weeks when we will be able to open for the kids at the new temporary location! Sorry for an inconvenience and we appreciate everyone's patience! We would like to thank the many volunteers that have help us start the moving and cleaning process!

We would like to send a BIG thank you to Robert Gilchrist, Project Manager of Agostini-Bacon Construction for reaching out to us over the summer for the opportunity to pick up furniture, kitchen appliances, and other items (from the old Franklin High School) for the new Center! We would also like to thank Ryder Truck Rental in Milford for helping us with a truck for the day!

A Great Summer Camp at the MYC!

The Milford Youth Center would like to first thank all the families that attended this years MYC Summer Camp! The kids had a great summer, enjoying field trips and activities at the Center and around Town!

We would also like to thank the many organizations and groups that have generously donated and supported our summer camp program this year: The United Way of Tri-County,

The Milford National Bank and its Charitable Foundation, The Worcester County District Attorney's drug forfeiture program, the Milford Rotary Club, Jay's Classic Barbershop,  & ReThink Your Drink (Milford Regional Hospital, Healthy Futures of Milford, and the WMRC for their donations)!

Thank you Senator Moore!

The Milford Youth Center is very excited to announce that we have been slated by the legislators to receive an earmark in the Youth at Risk line in the state budget for $50,000!

We want to make a special thank you to Senator Richard Moore and his entire team for working so hard to help get this through all the different
State departments and eventually on the Governor's desk for approval! Senator Moore is a longtime supporter of the Center and we appreciate all his effort in making this possible! As an added special treat, the MYC Summer Camp kdis were able to enjoy a private tour of the State House and a pizza party, thanks to the Office of Senator Richard T. Moore and Rep. John Fernandes!

The Center presented both Sen
ator Moore and Rep. John Fernandes with a photo collage to thank them for their longtime support of the Center! After the tour, the camp enjoyed the day at the Boston Commons!
 Thank you Jay's Classic Barbershop!

We would like to thank Jay's Classic Barbershop for hosting the first Annual Basketball Tournament to help raise funds for our summer camp program this year! It's due to the generosity of local individuals and businesses, like Jay's Classic Barbershop, that we are able to continue to offer free after school programming, an affordable summer camp, and provide a safe and fun environment for the youth of Milford!

Thank you United Way of Tri-County!

We would like to thank the United Way of Tr-County for donating 20 backpacks to some of our MYC After School members for this school year! The United Way of Tri-County runs this annual back-to-school backpack program to help children and youth succeed and learn. The program is a combined effort between area businesses and employees to provide backpacks and school supplies for the school year!

We are also proud to announce that the Milford Youth Center will be awarded a Impact Grant from the United Way of Tri-County! The goal of these Community Impact Grants is to find programs that positively impact the

community in the areas of Education, Health, Financial Stability, and Basic Needs!  A Community Investment Panel, consisting of a multidisciplinary group of community leaders, selected the Center to receive the grant to support scholarships for our Summer Camp program! The United Way has been a longtime supporter of the Center and we appreciate their continued generosity!

In therapy, different points of view are discussed, and individuals are then helped to select appropriate skills to either change or accept situations.

This group will start on September 24th, from 4-5 PM. The length of the group is 12 weeks and most insurances are accepted.

New Donation Signs at Town Park!

Next time you're at the Town Park, check out the new donation signs! The Youth Center, along with JAG, held a Find Yourself Friday, back in 2013, and had the funds go towards the Milford Play Initiative (a volunteer group aimed to raise awareness of the need and resources for a centrally located playground that offers a play space for all ages and connects families within the Milford Community)! The funds collected were used to purchase a playground equipment piece, called the Spinner Bowl!!! We are proud to be a part of and to see the completed renovations of the Town Park Playground located at the corner of Congress and Spruce St!

Milford Youth Center (MYC) mission is to provide a safe environment that promotes self esteem, builds character, and fosters the notion of community and the importance of respecting and serving others. For more information, click here.

The MYC & JAG work together to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC & JAG have worked to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
