End of the Year After School Party!

We had a spectacular end to the 2018 after-school program, which included a dunk tank, obstacle course, jumpy, snacks, music, crafts and the MYC Seaver Scholarship presentation! We would like to thank all of the volunteers who came out to spend the afternoon with us: Kim Wach, Darlene and John Dulude and Victoria Chimeno. Also thank you to Jeannette Schorn who donated chips for the party. A special thanks to Dave Sebastian from Wayside who did spin art with the kids. They absolutely loved it.

We would also like to thank Debbie Seaver who came and presented Shane Cosquete and Kayden Kelly with the MYC Seaver scholarship.  Thank you to our Board members who attended the presentation as well! Finally, thank you to all of our wonderful staff, each and every day you make the day a success. Without the help of our dedicated staff and volunteers these special events would not be possible. We are so appreciative and are looking forward to working with you again in the new school year!

Worcester Community Foundation!

The Youth Center is excited to announce that we received a $3,000 grant from the Greater Worcester Community Foundation and the Worcester County Food Bank Fund to End Hunger to purchase a mobile salad serving bar and a mobile electric hot food buffet table, used to serve nutritious foods to program youths, as well as youths and families taking part in our annual holiday dinners & events! It's due to the generosity of local individuals, businesses and organizations, like the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, that we are able to continue to offer free after school programming, an affordable summer camp, and provide a safe and fun environment for the youth of Milford! Thank you and we cannot wait to incorporate these into our next year's After School Program! Also, thank you to Tillrock Consulting for collaborating with MYC staff on this grant!

MYC Youth Council Final Updates!

The 2017-18 school year has come to an end! The MYC Youth Council finished up in June with a demonstration led by Sarah Freeman. The demonstration was of a game called, "Zombie Tag." The point of the demonstration was to spread awareness and teach kids how to be inclusive of children who have autism while playing with one another! Sarah explained to the kids the importance of notifying the child's parent and/or guardian of the game as they usually know the comfort levels and triggers of their child with autism. Overall, the kids received lots of helpful information that they can spread to their family members, friends and peers! At their last Youth Council meeting, members decided to head over to Simply Orthodontics, Milford to support one of our local business and neighbors! Simply Orthodontics held their Summer Kickoff Extravaganza, where there was free ice cream, face painting, chalk drawing, crafting, coloring, music, costume photo props and more!

Now that it is summer vacation time, the MYC Youth Council members are also on break! While they will reconnect over the summer during the telethon, group time will be severely missed! However, we do have next year! Keep an eye out for the MYC Youth Council members during the telethon! Some will help host, others will volunteer throughout the day. If you can, swing by Milford TV-our site and TV host for the telethon! There will be fun activities going on and of course, there will be food! The telethon will be held on Saturday, September 15th! Tune into Milford TV to view! Keep an eye out for times and channels!

Milford Youth Center (MYC) mission  is to provide a safe environment that promotes self esteem, builds character, and fosters the notion of community and the importance of respecting and serving others. For more information, click here .

The  MYC  works together with other community organizations to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC works to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
