The show will take place on THIS  Saturday, June 10th at 6:00PM at the Milford Youth Center. BVT students will be doing hair and make-up and The Chop Shop and Next Generation Barber Shop will be doing haircuts. Clothing will be provided by TJ Maxx. We also hope this event will increase youth self-esteem and attitudes toward their body image! This will also be our first fashion show at the newly renovated Youth Center!

MYC Receives $5,000 CHNA 6 Grant!

The Milford Youth Center is very excited to announce that we received funding from CHNA 6 to support a consulting position for one year of grant writing. With the assistance of a grant writer, the Milford Youth Center is looking to target grants that will directly increase the nutritional and physical fitness programming at the Center. Our proposal will address CHNA's "Priority Area 1: Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion," with the goal of creating healthier communities and prevent chronic disease by improving nutrition and increasing physical activity! We would like to thank CHNA 6 for this award and for allowing Youth Center staff to present at their May meeting to discuss the successes of our nutrition program, also a result of a CHNA6 Grant! Click here for a PowerPoint of the presentation!
Milford Bar Association Donation!

We would like to thank the Milford Bar Association for their generous donation that they presented last month to the Center! As part of their last quarterly meeting, The Milford Bar Association had Attorney Dan Doyle as their guest speaker. Dan spoke about his book, "The Jesus Trial," and he donated a number autographed copies of the book for purchase, with all proceeds to be donated to charity. Dan also founded the Blackstone Valley Boys & Girls Club in Blackstone Valley and has been its Chairman of the Board since its beginning; the 12 acre facility provides services to over 1000 children in Blackstone Valley throughout the year. In recognition of Attorney Doyle's commitment to youth services, the Greater Milford Area Bar Association decided to donate these funds to the Milford Youth Center.    "Considering Dan's devotion to providing a positive environment for our area's youth, we felt that the funds raised through Dan's generosity should be donated to an organization with similar goals." - Stephen J. Patton

Milford Youth Center (MYC) mission  is to provide a safe environment that promotes self esteem, builds character, and fosters the notion of community and the importance of respecting and serving others. For more information, click here .

The  MYC  works together with other community organizations to provide resources and opportunities for youth to make healthy decisions. The MYC works to provide local youth with the necessary activities and events that help them develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally through their childhood years. By providing Milford youth with these types of programs and a safe environment during the after school hours and during our monthly events, we hope to address adolescent risk factors as well as promoting the partnership among community members to ensure a comprehensive vision and plan for the health of the youth in the town of Milford.
