Village Celebrations - October 6th, 7th, and 8th
|
We've set aside the weekend of October 6 - 8 for home hosted Village Pot Lucks. The Jewish tradition of inviting guests to your home during Sukkot has been going on for ages and hosting home based Village sukkot gatherings has been an Adat Shalom tradition. While the Saturday evening Village Havdalah seems the most popular, Erev Shabbat dinner, Sunday brunch or afternoon "tea time' events are also options. It is okay if you can only host a small group. Don't have a sukkah? Put up a few fall decorations. After all, among other things, Sukkot is a harvest holiday.

Volunteers Make It Happen! |
|
Hurricane Relief Efforts |
The Greater Miami Jewish Federation has an
easy to use web portal that promises "one hundred percent of all contributions will be directed to assist victims of the disaster relief fund(s) you designate." You can select aid to Puerto Rico / Maria or to survivors of the recent earthquake in Mexico.
There are, of course, many organizations, Jewish and otherwise, raising funds. If you want to share reliable "one stop shopping" for a list of organizations that have been vetted by a major news organization,
