School Closed Monday
School will be closed Mon. Sept 4th in celebration of Labor Day. We will see you at school on Tuesday.
Yearbook Cover Design Contest
Primary Grades (PK-2nd) Requirements for back cover contest: Must include the school vision Inspired to learn, lead, succeed
 
Intermediate Grades (3rd -5th) Requirements for front cover contest: School name and the year, (2017-2018)
 
The design for both the front and the back must be student created by hand, not on the computer. In order for your design to be judged, your name must be on the back, not the front. All creations must be submitted on plain white 8 ½ X 11 paper. Turn your cover in to your homeroom teacher. Deadline: Thurs. Sept 21th
Donate Your Sneakers
As you clean out closets after a busy summer, don't forget to save your old sneakers (both kids AND adult sizes accepted) for our GotSneakers donation fundraiser*.  Ask friends, neighbors, and family to donate too so we can reach our goal of collecting 1000 pairs! Donations are accepted in boxes located around the school.   *Athletic shoes ONLY. Shoes with worn/tearing/seperated soles, holes, or torn lining are not accepted.
Picture Day (Uniform)

We Want Your Books!
Who: Girl Scout Troop 992
What: Book Drive to benefit Shaw Elementary
When: Sept. 5th - 15th
Where: Collection bins at Mabry (Front Office, Cafeteria, Media Center)
Why: Access to books in the home promotes reading skills. Clean out your bookshelf to help students at Shaw Elementary build lifelong reading skills.
Council Members Needed
The School Advisory Council (SAC) is in need of voting members to help implement Mabry's School Improvement Plan.  Volunteers of SAC meet monthly right after school on Wednesdays.  The council is composed of parents, local business members, faculty and staff.  Contact Lauren.gibson@sdhc.k12.fl.us if you can give your time to help improve our school.

Reading Buddies Needed
The Reading Buddies program is in need of volunteers.  No experience necessary!  You will be matched with a child and then spend 30 minutes a week  encouraging and listening to them read.  Teachers will provide the materials.  Contact: Stephanie Thomas stephaniewbush@hotmail.com
