Dear Friends:

After nearly 10 years in business, Linda and I are so terribly sad to announce that Carefree Station has closed its doors. Our lease was up for renewal at the end of this year, and we were in negotiations with the landlord of Spanish Village. Due to its age and lack of landlord maintenance, the building has been in need of major repairs. Because of our love of the location, we've made due over the years and have found temporary fixes for the problems.

However, the list of repairs became insurmountable, and it was time to make some major improvements to the building in order for Carefree Station to continue operating effectively. Unfortunately, we were having trouble coming to an agreement on a mutually beneficial lease renewal with the landlord. To our surprise, the owners of Spanish Village decided to lock us out of our business, leaving us no choice but to close our doors for good.

Coincidently, several days before the closure of Carefree Station, Linda and I signed a lease on a new location in Scottsdale. The plan was for this location to be our third, adding to our list of "Station" restaurants. Closing Carefree Station was never our intention. Linda and I have had a love affair with the Town of Carefree, our loyal customers and dedicated staff. We have put our hearts and souls into Carefree Station, and our plan was to continue to dedicate our lives to our flagship restaurant, while growing Prescott Station and our soon to open Scottsdale Station. Adding a third location would have also allowed us the ability to hire a Director of Operations to run the restaurants, so Linda and I could have a little break and eventually plan for a retirement.

We are heartbroken by this turn of events and wish we had better news. Since we've closed our doors, the outpouring from the community has been overwhelming. We cannot even begin to express our gratitude for your patronage and support over the years and for recommending Carefree Station to your friends and family. And, to our dedicated staff, we couldn't have made it this far without you. We appreciate you making Carefree Station such an amazing place.

Please know this isn't goodbye. We'll continue to keep you posted about our new location, Scottsdale Station, and we hope to see you at our Northern Arizona outpost, Prescott Station.

All the Best,
Robert and Linda Gabrick
