Dear ,
The organization Peace Action urges calls to Representatives NOW at (202) 224-3121 to ask him/her to vote for amendments that make our communities a priority, not more war and nuclear weapons.
The House has voted to cut $36 billion from nutrition-assistance programs, which would drop 2 million people off of food aid, cut benefits for 44 million more - including Meals on Wheels for the elderly - and drop 280,000 low-income children from the free school lunch program. This is part of an effort to increase the over 50 percent discretionary spending going to the Pentagon, and adding $10 billion for nuclear weapons.
Fortunately, amendments will be offered THIS WEEK to end the Afghanistan war more quickly, to prevent war with Iran, and to decrease the Pentagon budget. PLEASE CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TO URGE SUPPORT FOR THESE AMENDMENTS, WHICH ARE EXPECTED BE VOTED ON THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH FRIDAY.
Peace and all good,
