Make sure to stop by the Center's space at Pride Festival of Central Pennsylvania this Saturday! The Festival will take place in Riverfront Park, Harrisburg, from 12-5 pm. $8 entry fee.

 

Besides the annual festival, take advantage of several other opportunities to show your Pride this weekend, including:

 

Friday, July 29: I'm From Driftwood story tour at Midtown Scholar Bookstore, 7pm. $5 suggested donation benefits our youth program, Common Roads.
 
Friday, July 29: Voices United Concert with the Central PA Womyn's Chorus, Harrisburg Men's Chorus, and MCC of the Spirit's choir at Market Square Presbyterian Church, 8pm. $15. 

Sunday, July 31: Advocating for Equality - An Invitational Educational Forum with Capital Region Stonewall Democrats, Midtown Scholar Bookstore, 2pm, free.

Sunday, July 31: Spirits United Service at St. Paul's UCC in Mechanicsburg, 7pm service, 8pm reception and fellowship.

York Gay Pride
York is holding its first ever Pride celebration! The three-day event will take place at Club XS, 36 W 11th Avenue from Friday, August 12 through Sunday, August 14. A street festival will take place on Saturday, August 13 at noon. The festival is free to all.

Lancaster Pride Youth Outreach
Lancaster Pride Youth Outreach organizes activities for youth and families year-round. Check out some of their upcoming initiatives below.

Family Bingo Night at Carmen & David's Creamery. 7-9 on the following Mondays:
August 22, September 26, October 24

Highway Cleanup on a 2.5-mile stretch of Route 23/Walnut Street. 9-noon on the following Saturdays:
August 6, October 1

Story Hour at Winding Way Books. An LGBT-friendly story time geared toward younger youth in the community. 7-8pm on the following Mondays:
August 8, September 12, October 10

Common Roads
School is out for the summer, but Common Roads is going strong! Our weekly safe space meetings in Harrisburg (221 N. Front Street) and Lancaster (538 W. Chestnut Street) continue to provide social and educational programs for LGBTQ youth. See our schedule for upcoming activities.

 

In the first two quarters of 2011, over 90 unduplicated youth ages 14-22 participated in our Friday night safe space programs. 

 

Common Roads is the youth programming arm of the LGBT Community Center.
Pride Picnic at Knoebel's
The 17th Annual Pride Picnic at Knoebel's Grove is scheduled for Saturday, August 13. Find the group at Pavilion P10.    

Registration begins at 11am; Covered dish and raffle at 3pm. Join for the meal or for the whole day. Bring a covered dish to share.

Book Club
