Kari Garber

FEI rider, trainer, instructor, and popular clinician Kari Garber offers a positive and clear approach to dressage through understanding.  Her fun and encouraging style is sought-after by professionals and amateurs alike.

Kari spent significant time honing her skills in Europe, where she worked at Flyinge, the National Stud of Sweden, riding and training multiple horses daily. Garber relocated from Sweden permanently to Florida in 2005 where she owns and operates Finesse Farm, a twenty stall, full-service dressage training facility. She enjoys great success with clients in the Wellington area, as well as clinic clientele throughout the globe. 

A USDF bronze and silver medalist, and rider member of Dressyringen (Swedish equivalent of USDF Gold medal),and member of  the International Dressage Rider's Club (IDRC),  Kari is additionally skilled in the art of training horses in long lines; a skill she was fortunate to acquire under the tutelage of European master Bo Jenå.  Bo Jenå, has worked at Flyinge, for over 30 years where he is the Director of Dressage Training.  An FEI I Judge, and Chef d'Équipe of  the Swedish Dressage Team, Jenå is Kari's business partner.  Their long lining system was featured in a three-part series in Dressage Today magazine. Garber has also appeared in Wellington Magazine, Florida Horseman, and  "A Collection of Glamorous Equestrians," a celebrity calendar benefitting Breast Cancer research.  She is also a featured expert on Jane Savoie's Dressage Mentor website and in Dressage Today magazine.

She has coached from beginner to Grand Prix; Juniors, Young Riders, amateurs and professionals have enjoyed competition success with her positive support and super eye on the ground.

Steve Lengyel

Steve Lengyel is a USEF "r" judge (soon to be "R") and a clinician. From a family of horsemen, Steve has been riding and training top quality hunter-jumpers, from Pre-Green to Grand Prix, for the past 31 years. He is best known for his ability to get along with all horses, the easy and tough ones, making the ride always seem effortless. Along with many top year-end and Circuit Champion horses and ponies, Steve has also trained children and adult riders to top Regional & National Honors.

In 2010-2011 Steve Lengyel's Wall Street Farm IEA Wellington Middle School Team had more champion points (50) than any other team in the United States and his WSF High School Team had the second leading championship points in the US(48).  At the 2011 IEA National show Mr. Lengyel had more individual point ribbon earners than any other coach in the nation.  His WSF middle school team finished 7th overall.

CPI Welcomes Guest Speaker Dr. Janice Lima-Maribona, Board Certified Dermatologist 

Dr. Janice Lima-Maribona, a board certified dermatologist, will review the science behind sun damage and the way that the sun affects the skin. Dr. Lima-Maribona will review the most common skin cancers and what they look like and will discuss the treatments available, both surgical and non-surgical, for the different types of cancers. The presentation will conclude with some basic rules as to sun avoidance, SPF value (what it means and how to apply SPF appropriately) as well as prevention and how to perform a full body skin exam. The riders will be provided with sunscreen samples as well as a magazine copy and brochures on how to examine their bodies.

The College Preparatory Invitational (CPI) is pleased to announce that the official course designer for their 2012 event is Pierre Jolicoeur. Jolicoeur is a FEI -level internationally recognized course designer, and the CPI is thrilled to have his services at their event. The 2012 College Preparatory Invitational will be held January 13-15 at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center in Wellington, FL.

Along with course designing, Jolicoeur is known as an Olympic-level jumper trainer and the maker of PJ Saddles. Jolicoeur graduated first in his class from the National School of Equitation in 1969. Since 1971, when Jolicoeur opened the doors of Robespierre Stables in Hudson, Quebec, Canada, he has steadily built a sound reputation as an international jumper trainer, course designer and saddle designer.  After well over 25 years of experience, this three-time Olympic trainer, three-time Pan-American Games trainer has coached his riders to four medals. His PJ Saddles are made using carefully selected fine leather, providing exceptional longevity and an ideal link with the horse.

Jolicoeur explained that he is looking forward to being a part of the CPI and contributing to helping young riders improve. "I think I'll enjoy it; I like to do events like this for the younger generation," he said.

He said of his course designing, "The first thing for course designing is to get information and read the specs closely. Most important is to study and ask coaches what to expect for the students. I don't want to be too hard, but don't want to give it away. I want to make sure the best riders are on top. Our job is three things: first is safety, second is education, third is fun. The perfect course is when those three things happen."
