Horse Therapy with True Strides
Parents reflect on horse therapy with son

True Strides participant Joseph enjoys riding Pete the horse with the guidance and support of his dad Jim and the  True Strides staff.
True Strides Director Shari Mangas recently visited with Jim and Ruth, whose son participates in therapy at True Strides. The following is an excerpt from their interview.

What is your favorite part about participating with True Strides?

The therapeutic work they have done with our son is wonderful.  We have observed the therapists getting him to successfully do things after prior failed attempts. He also enjoys the trail rides. BIG SMILES!

We really believe that Shari and her staff are the gems of True Strides.

We drive over an hour each way to True Strides located in Maple Lake and there are other places closer to us but closer is not necessarily better.

Our son responds to high energy and the staff provide a lot of high energy positive feedback to him which gets him to respond. Also, we like how new things keep getting tried with him; always pushing him for more. We've been to another horse therapy program prior to True Strides where the staff seemed bored and continued to do the same things over and over.

Joining the True Strides therapeutic riding feels like joining the True Strides family. Every rider is valued for who they are and the skill level they have. We sense the staff's compassion and love for what they do and how they truly wish to help every individual reach their potential! It is more than a business for them; that is easy to see!
