Hello,

With the warm weather drawing to a close, we want to share what has been going on this summer at the PCC. Summer in Calgary is a time of golfing, Stampeding and enjoying the short time we have of beautiful weather. This summer has been fruitful, despite the tough economic times in Calgary. We truly appreciate the hard work and generosity that goes into all of these events.
Remington Golf Classic
For the 4th consecutive year, golf enthusiasts gathered on August 17th at the Stewart Creek Golf Course to play in support of prostate cancer. This sold out tournament raised $400,000 this year with all the proceeds coming to the Prostate Cancer Centre in Calgary.
Fore Men's Health Golf Tournament
On August 11th, the sport of golf and men's health were incorporated to produce a very successful tournament. The MAN VAN was on site giving the players access to not only PSA blood tests, but blood glucose, blood pressure and body mass index (BMI) testing too. Thank you to all of the players and organizers that made this tournament such a success!
Priddis Greens Charity Classic
The 18th annual Priddis Greens Charity Classic was held August 9-11 at the Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club. This year a "Cape Breton" theme was added with food, decor and music inspired by the east coast. This tournament continues to raise awareness and support for the PCC and this year they raised $325,000, bringing the total to $5.8 million. This tournament would not be possible without the generous support of the tournament’s golfers, sponsors, volunteers and committee members. Thank you!
NUTRaiser
This year Village Brewery put a twist on their traditional prairie oyster beer. We had the pleasure of being joined by Brett Wilson, Bret Hart and Bill Brooks who added their own ingredient to this year’s brews. Brett Wilson added peanut butter, Bret Hart added bananas and Bill added chocolate. On July 7th, folks came down to Bottlescrew Bill’s to try these unique brews and raised over $15,000. Cheers!
Scott Land Stomp
The Scott Land Stomp is always the perfect way to kick-off Stampede. While many events were cancelled due to the tough economic times, the Stomp went on, celebrating their 25th anniversary. Friends, alumni and clients gathered on July 7th at the Wildhorse Saloon to celebrate, where $25,000 was raised to help men in southern Alberta affected with prostate cancer.
Research Update
Urologists, Dr. Geoff Gotto and Dr. Bryan Donnelly, continue to enroll well into the COSMiC study. Their success has been truly a team approach. At the time a Zytiga prescription is written they simultaneously contact the lead study coordinator Cora Carr at the Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC) Calgary, AB.  Since January 2016, PCC has enrolled nine new patients into the study bringing its total to 20 participants.

Okotoks Dawgs Game
It was another beautiful day for the 5th annual “Dad’s Day at the Dawgs” in Okotoks. Families gathered at Seaman Stadium to celebrate Father’s Day by watching the Dawgs baseball game. Men were offered a free PSA blood test, blood pressure, blood glucose and BMI (body mass index) from the Man Van. Thank you Okotoks Dawgs for another successful year!
Telus Ride for Dad
On June 18th, the enormous parade of motorcycle riders was hard to miss. This event brings together people with a passion for bikes, all while raising funds for Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre. Dr. Morley Hollenburg accepted a cheque for $40,300 to continue research at the PCC. Thank you to the Calgary Telus Ride for Dad team for organizing and hosting this event, as well as hosting several MAN VAN clinics throughout the year.
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and we need you help now more than ever!
