Manics Outpace an Admirable Crossers Team
May 16, 2012 - Kicking off the Ivy King Cup Playoff on Sunday, May 13, the Double Crossers faced the undefeated Manic Attackers. WCR All-Stars veterans Hoosier Mama and Varla Vendetta joined the Crossers’ squad as guests and Dame Over, Indycent, and co-captain Joanie Utah all made a return to the roster.
The Double Crossers fought hard against a much stronger and favored Manic team. Cruel Whip and Indycent played the jammer position for most of the bout, working hard for and deserving every point they scored, but the Crossers were no match for the agility of Rose Feratu and Mo Vengeance, nor for the devastating blows from Bork Bork Bork. When the final whistle blew, the Manic Attackers emerged victorious with a score of 157-53 and a spot in the Ivy King Cup Championship.
Belles’ Cinderella Story Comes to a Close
The Fury and the Hell’s Belles have traded losses all season long, but the standings going into the playoffs indicated that the Belles might just upset the reigning Ivy King Cup Champions. The Fury, however, took to the track with a renewed sense of purpose after losing to the Belles earlier in the season.
Lead changes and consistent defense dominated the first half and scoring was scarce in the first few jams. The Fury opened with a 3-0 lead but were held to those points for three more jams. Kola Loka and Ska Face took control of The Fury’s jammer cap, putting up impressive numbers on the scoreboard. Hell’s Belles’ Unicoroner, Phoebe Fi Fo Fum, and Zombea Arthur continually answered back, wowing the crowd with their jamming skills. In the end, The Fury proved that their roster still boasts exceptional skill and determination as they closed the door on the Belles’ hopes with a final score of 155-131.
