Yap Manta Project |
 |
Ms. Julie Hartup, currently studying in Guam, has been very active in helping us with our manta ray identification program as well as getting us in contact with the wonderful people at the Manta Trust Foundation.
As part of Julie's research and to support our manta naming program, we have established a dedicated e-mail address for any of our former guests with good photo of our mantas' bellies. If you would be willing to share your images with us, please send them to: manta-id@mantaray.com.
We will then compare your manta ray photos (remember we need only shots that show the distinct markings on their stomachs as well as their tail sections so we can determine male or female) with our existing images. If you provide one that is not in our collection, you will be notified and given the chance to name that animal.
To help with our research, it would be nice if you can tell us the date of the photo and where it was taken. We would like to thank you in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide. This is a fun project that hopefully will help us support and sustain Yap's resident population of rays. To date, we have over 100 animals photographed and named and we hope this call for assistance will generate many more positive identifications.

Parting Shot |

McQuillan walked into a bar and ordered martini after martini, each time removing the olives and placing them in a jar.
When the jar was filled with olives and all the drinks consumed, the Irishman started to leave.
"S'cuse me", said a customer, who was puzzled over what McQuillan had done, "what was that all about?"
"Nothin' , said the Irishman, "me wife just sent me out for a jar of olives!"
