"The renowned Thomas Manton (1620-1677), whose writings have long been prized by thousands, was known first and foremost as a great preacher. In a day when good preaching is sorely lacking, we need the reprint of his Complete Works, in which twenty of his twenty-two volumes are sermons. These sermons are the legacy of a powerful preacher devoted to the systematic teaching and application of God's Word. Whether he is expounding the Lord's Prayer, Psalm 119, Isaiah 53, James, or Jude, Manton presents us with the best that English Puritans had to offer in careful, solid, warmhearted exposition of the Scriptures." - Dr. Joel R. Beeke

James Montgomery Boice said, "Calvin had no weapon but the Bible. He preached from the Bible every day, and under the power of that preaching the city began to be transformed. As the people of Geneva acquired knowledge of God's Word and were changed by it, the city became, as John Knox called it later, a New Jerusalem from which the gospel spread to the rest of Europe, England, and the New World."

Charles H. Spurgeon said, "Among all those who have been born of women, there has not risen a greater than John Calvin; no age before him ever produced his equal, and no age afterwards has seen his rival. He propounded truth more clearly than any other man who ever breathed, knew more of Scripture, and explained it more clearly."

Benjamin B. Warfield said, "Here we have the secret of Calvin's greatness and the source of his strength unveiled to us. No man ever had a profounder sense of God than he; no man ever more unreservedly surrended himself to the Divine direction."

John Murray wrote, "Calvin was the exegete of the Reformation and in the first rank of biblical exegetes of all time."

COVENANT
THEOLOGY
from Adam to Christ
by Owen & Coxe

"This volume brings together wonderful insights from two faithful church leaders of an earlier generation with helpful analyses from competent teachers of today. The results is a valuable resource for students, academics, and pastors." - Tom Ascol

"For various reasons, many reformed Baptists of our time have failed to realize that historic Covenant Theology was fully appreciated and theologically deployed in the very best of the Calvinistic Baptist tradition. Whereas many Baptists today who are reformed have opted for speaking of themselves as some form of dispensationalist (modified or progressive) or have felt drawn to so-called 'New Covenant Theology,' Baptists who embrace the great Reformed distinctives (like Spurgeon did) have seen themselves as covenant theologians. May their tribe increase!" - Ligon Duncan

Adams on 2 Peter
Exposition of SECOND PETER
by Thomas Adams

Thomas Adams (1583-1652) was considered the Shakespeare of the Puritans, as he was a brilliant writer.  This Commentary was considered his MAGNUM OPUS.  It is wonderful.

CH SPURGEON placed this Puritan Classic on the top of his list of commentaries of Second Peter. In his own words: "Full of quaintnesses, holy wit, bright thought, and deep instruction. We like Adams better in commenting than in preaching. His great work is quite by itself, and in its own way remains unrivalled. We know no richer and racier reading."

JOEL BEEKE said, "Not included in Adams's works, is his magnum opus, A Commentary on the Second Epistle General of St. Peter, an extensive commentary first published in 1633 and last reprinted by Soli Deo Gloria in 1990, and happily, reprinted again now by Solid Ground Christian Books. The work is exegetically reliable and stylistically adept. Much useful theological knowledge is conveyed in striking phrases. Spurgeon commented that this book was the best Puritan commentary printed under James Sherman's editorship. Adams is unsurpassed on Second Peter. Though the print is small, the content is rich, and is well worth patient perusal. Here is a feast for ministers and all serious Bible students."

The Kingdom of God

by Jeff Johnson

"Jeff Johnson has given us a lot to chew on. This treatment of the covenants gives a tightly argued discussion of the relation between the covenant of works and the covenant of grace. Johnson gives a cover-to-cover, Genesis-to-Revelation dramatic presentation of the story of the outworking of the covenant of grace through the conflict of the two seeds. It is gripping and compelling while it illustrates the doctrinal argument with power. He tells the story that is the ontological rubric behind all good stories. Giving serious attention to Johnson's tenacious engagement with the biblical theme of The Kingdom of God will expand one's personal knowledge of Scripture, extend one's confidence in the wisdom and certainty of divine providence, and exact transparent and pure praise to God for his invincible grace." -Tom Nettles, Professor of Historical Theology, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

HOP Front Cover Volume One
3 Volume Large Paperback Set

This Large Three Volume set, 'The History of Protestantism' by J. A. Wylie, is an incredibly inspiring work. It pulls back the divine curtain and reveals God's hand in the affairs of His church during the Protestant Reformation. Through the centuries, the sacrifices and victories of God's faithful people have often been obscured and forgotten. Now once again, you can read the fascinating story of how truth triumphed over error, principle over falsehood, and light over darkness. Your heart will be stirred by the lives of Protestant heroes, and your mind captivated by God's simple means to counteract the intrigues of its enemies in both church and state. Though this book reads like you are right there, it often lets you watch from heaven's perspective, and opens to your mind to the highest thoughts and feelings. You will sense the unfolding drama as told in the lives and work of God fearing and courageous men and women.

"This set of books about our forgotten heritage will fascinate readers and strengthen faith. J.A. Wylie (1808-1890) tells the story of the Reformation with detail and vigor. This Set draws you in with accounts of faithful preaching, martyrdom, revival, war, and liberty from Wycliffe to William of Orange." --Dr. Joel R. Beeke

1689 BAPTIST CONFESSION OF FAITH:
A Modern Exposition by Waldron
&
A SCRIPTURAL EXPOSITION
of the Baptist Catechism
by Benjamin Beddome

A MODERN EXPOSITION of the 1689 by Waldron
This exposition was originally published in 1989 to mark the 300th anniversary of the publication of the Second London Confession, which also became known as the '1689 Baptist Confession of Faith.' Today, reformed Baptists world-wide hold this Confession in high esteem and many churches continue to regard it as their official statement of faith.

Included in this publication is a helpful introduction on The Legitimacy and Use of Confessions by Dr. Robert Paul Martin, currently Pastor of Emmanuel Reformed Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington.

BONUS SECTION: At the back of the book there are 25 pages of helpful Study Questions (more than 300 in all) that will help to review all the contents of this invaluable book, and serve useful for teaching within the church and the family.
588 pages

A SCRIPTURAL EXPOSITION of the Baptist Catechism by Benjamin Beddome

"The recent reprint of The Baptist Catechism has given families and study classes a helpful tool for memorizing the great doctrines of the Christian faith. Now, a hidden jewel, Benjamin Beddome's 'A Scriptural Exposition of the Baptist Catechism,' takes its place alongside the Catechism to give much needed assistance to the same families and classes. Beddome shows how the doctrines contained in the Catechism are founded upon Scripture, and explains them for all to understand. This is indeed a wonderful instrument to make skilled craftsmen from apprentices!" - Dr. James M. Renihan

In Little Pillows Frances' intent was to give children biblical truth to think about as they went to sleep. Each truth was to be like a little pillow --- something comforting and supportive to rest upon during the night. She teaches through vivid word pictures that bring everyday images to a child's mind, thus linking the spiritual to the child's world. This is child evangelism as it should be: plain, simple, truthful, without manipulation or deceit." - Carol Brandt, author of Old Paths for Little Feet

Little Pillows is a precious little book filled with promises upon which young children can rest their heads as they go to bed each night. Morning Bells is the companion volume written to give these same children a passage to carry with them throughout the day.

A wonderful book to read to young children, and for them to read to each other as they grow older.

A FAVORITE OF JEFF SCHWEND OF GRACE GEMS!!

"If any 19th century American Christian writer warrants reprinting, it is J.R. Miller! His writing style is delightfully smooth, his insights are spiritual diamonds on every page, and his pastoral applications are delivered with the skill of a well-seasoned physician of souls." - Pastor Bill Shishko of Franklin Square, NY

"This book is a calendar for devotional reading. At the top of each page is a verse of Scripture, and the texts chosen are made to cover the earthly life of out Lord. The readings which follow each text are intended to be neither exegetical nor expository, but practical and promotive of a devotional spirit. They are exceedingly full of suggestions to duty, and encouragements to a holy life. It is a good book to take into one's 'inner chamber' as a help to to devout meditation upon the words of our Savior." - New England and Yale Review

In spite of the relentless attacks against this book, we are thankful to be able to announce that HOLDING COMMUNION TOGETHER has arrived from the printer.  Those who take the time to read this book from cover to cover will find it is very different from the caricature portrayed by its opponents.

Steve Martin concludes his Book Review with these words: "God's own Word shows the truth of God's servants, warts and all. I believe He will honor this honest "warts and all" telling of the first half-century of the confessional Reformed Baptist. There is much promise to our movement as we learn from our many painful memories. But there is more of Christ's glory to see and savor too! May our next 50 years show forth more of Christ's glory with more holy ministers and more healthy churches. We shall have to be honest with ourselves and repent of our many mistakes. Thank you Pastors Chantry and Dykstra for helping our movement to face the past and in doing so, doing the hard thing well!"

The closing words of the book are from the heart of Dr. Jim Renihan, as he closed his paper which was delivered in March 1998 at a minister's fraternal in Grand Rapids, MI on the subject of Reformed Baptist Associations - "I do not expect to be able to convince everyone present of the propriety of joining a formal association. In fact, that has not been my purpose in this paper. But I do hope that I have demonstrated that those of us who believe that this is the right course to follow are not merely pragmatically abandoning our commitment to Scripture. We have tried to be true to the patterns and forms of Scripture, and find much evidence that our course of action is consonant with New Testament ecclesiology. I would appeal to you brethren, if you disagree with us, to be careful in the way you describe us. We may disagree over the nature of the warrant for associations, but that does not make us any less committed to a robust Scriptural doctrine of the church.

In any case, the glory of God is our greatest concern. Let us pray for one another. We may disagree over the implementation of these particular principles. But we serve the same Savior, and have the same motivations at heart. May Jesus Christ be glorified in our lives, as we serve Him in our generation. Amen."

"Something 'new' by Spurgeon. What else do you need to know? And Spurgeon on the gospel? That should seal the deal for anyone. They will get the biblical gospel, and Spurgeon is a name people trust. Don't miss the opportunity to obtain this scarce volume." - Dr. Don Kistler, founder of Northampton Press

AFTER NEARLY FOUR YEARS OF WAITING WE ARE FINALLY READY TO SHIP THIS VITAL BOOKLET THIS WEEK.

THIS BOOKLET IS MORE THAN TWICE THE SIZE OF THE ORIGINAL MATERIAL AS WE HAVE ADDED TWO SERMONS BY GEOFF THOMAS TO THE WORKS BY DABNEY AND WARFIELD.  IT IS VERY RICH!

"When it comes to the late nineteenth century the names R. L. Dabney and B. B. Warfield are in a peculiar class--the foremost class of biblical theologians. Those familiar with their writings will not be surprised that they wrote on such a contemporary topic (then and now) as women and their role in the Church. They were acutely aware of cultural currents and pressures and offered incisive biblical-theological answers. The Church can only benefit from the abiding truths they mined from Holy Scripture. It's good to have their contributions in one volume. Readers beware: you may not like what you read in this little book, but you better not dismiss it!" -- C. N. Willborn, PhD

"This project is a must! Feminism and egalitarianism are insidious errors, striking at the heart of both home and church and probably society as well. Both God's creation ordinance and the character of the the church are affected. Warfield and Dabney deal with these matters biblically and powerfully. I cannot urge you strongly enough to get these two great works into print. You must do this!" - Pastor Don Lindblad

by Sharman Martin

with Photographs by Karim Shamsi-Basha

Follow the adventures of Bo, a real-life, three-legged dog who lost his right leg in a terrible accident, but who persevered and won the heart of his new owner and the author of the book. Although this is written for young children, parents and teachers will find this story tugging at their hearts, as they see the value and integrity of all creatures of our God and King. You will learn how Bo persisted with his owner's other two dogs to finally convince them that "I Can Play Too." The primary purpose of this full color book is to teach children to treat all other children with respect no matter how different they may be. This is a powerful story!

"All children can relate to Bo if they think about a time in their lives when they felt excluded or different in some way. Bo teaches us to celebrate these differences because being different IS what makes us special. I would recommend this book to EVERY teacher, counselor, and parent, as it is chock-full of wonderful life lessons at the turn of every page." -Dawn Norris, Guidance Counselor

"While setting the record straight on Edwards's theology through leaning heavily on his own writings (800 quotes from Edwards!), Biehl's work is also a tour de force for the confirmation of Reformed orthodoxy in the midst of ongoing debates about justification today."
