IPTV Connects with Families and Educators at Literacy Night

At the Family Literacy Night at North Hill Elementary in Burlington families learned firsthand about the new PBSKIDS YouTube channelThey also enjoyed learning about the many literacy and math games for children ages 3-8 that can be found at PBS Kids Lab.

Curious George: Build a Wall
Grades PreK-1

In the video Keep Out Cows, Curious George tries to build a wall to keep the cows from munching on a flowerbed. He uses newspapers attached to a clothesline, but will they be strong enough to keep Leslie Cow and her friends away? Students explore various building materials as they plan, construct, and then test out their own walls.

News Quiz is a weekly 15-minute current events program for grades 4-8. The program consists of news segments; a current events quiz; letters to News Quiz; and Earth Trek, Our Great State and FYI segments. Ecosystem Explorer
Grades 5-10

Inspired by content from the PBS series EARTH A New Wild, the Ecosystem Explorer is a collection of videos, games and infographics designed to take students deep into the ecosystems of three thrilling animals: vultures, wolves, and sharks. Use the related videos to introduce each ecosystem and discover that the relationship between animals and humans is often much more complicated than we realize. Then, encourage students to play through the interactive and discover more exciting science about the ecology and conservation of these three worlds. Learn More

Westward Expansion: A Systems Approach to History
Grades 8-12

Examine how to apply systems thinking to social sciences, by looking at maps of westward expansion in the U.S. in the 1800s. Grades 6-12

This clip from A Raisin in the Sun Revisited, introduces three potent plays, A Raisin in the SunClybourne Park, and Beneatha's Place, showing how these three plays all advance the discussion of race in America and alluding to how issues surrounding race in America both have and have not changed since A Raisin in the Sun debuted on Broadway in 1959. Clybourne Park and Beneatha's Place were performed in repertory as The Raisin Cycle at Baltimore's Center Stage in the spring of 2013. Learn More
