Sharing a birthday with others

One local Council Rock student decided to turn her special day into a fundraiser to help children, teens and adults with special needs.

Sarah Porter of Newtown just celebrated her birthday and invited many of her closest friends and families to attend.  The one stipulation? Instead of gifts, she asked them to bring a donation to Sarah's charity of choice.

This year, Sarah chose Autism Cares Foundation to donate her birthday gifts to.  Together with her friends, they
joined together and partnered with local businesses to raise additional donations.
Giant Supermarket in the Summit Square Shopping Center donated her cake and
Dolce Carini of Newtown donated pizzas for the party.

Together the girls raised more than $600 for Autism Cares Foundation!  They have truly enriched the lives of those with special needs today, and helped to build them a brighter tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Sarah!

Volunteer Of The Month-  Declan Mandeville

Declan Mandeville  brings an unparalleled energy to Autism Cares Foundation. He has volunteered with ACF for the past two and a half years, and is a perfect example of a caring young man who knows how to make a difference in the lives of others.  Before leaving for college last August, he volunteered at our weekly Fitlife program.  Declan was a "buddy" to many young adults, and fostered long lasting bonds with them.  During the Fitlife program, he helped train the young adults on how to perform basic strengthening exercises.  When he comes home from college, Declan visits Fitlife to see his ACF friends for their weekly fitness training session, and the buddies are clearly happy to be reunited.

Declan combines his passion for working out and his compassion and love for the field of special education, and makes each ACF family feel love and respected.

Thank you Declan for all you do for our young adults. Good luck in college and we look forward to seeing you the next time you return home.

If you would like to be a "Friend of the Foundation" check out our volunteer opportunities.
