UCEDC Free Seminar:
Tuesday, March 13, 2018
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

We'll lead you through the registration processes for the federal and state procurement systems, show you exactly where to go to get a clear picture of who's buying what, and share the secrets to becoming a sub-contractor, among other essential practices.

This is your opportunity to get the clear directions you need to get started in government contracting.  No matter what you are selling, somebody in the federal or state government is probably interested in buying it!  You'll start small, but some of our most successful clients started out with contracts worth just a few hundred dollars!

Already registered with the government but need a refresher in making the most of procurement opportunities?  Attend this workshop and you'll come away better prepared to find relevant postings and close the sale!

New Member Introductions and Messages
Meet New Member: AFLAC

As an experienced licensed Voluntary Insurance Broker, I am proud to represent (Aflac) American Family Life Assurance Company, the leading provider of Workplace hosted Voluntary Insurance Benefits. Aflac individual and group products provides protection for more than 50 million people worldwide. In 2018, FORTUNE magazine included Aflac on its list of Most Admired Companies for the 17th time, ranking the company number three in the life and health insurance category.

Voluntary insurance isn't a new benefit option, it has actually become a more essential component to round out an existing employee's package.

My goal is to help your business find attainable strategies and affordable options that will help address those common business challenges. I take a consultative approach to understanding your business need. This means, we can arrive at customized, cost effective enhancements to your current benefits packages for your business, regardless of how large small or diverse your workforce is. Supplemental programs though hosted by an employer, is funded usually by the individual participant.
As we always say "you'll always have our promise that we'll continue to find and offer innovative ways to keep you covered under our wings."

The Work First Foundation

Our Beginning

Begun in 2005 by social innovators Mr. Peter Cove and Dr. Lee Bowes of America Works, the Work First Foundation was founded on the idea that employment is the most important first step towards lifting people out of poverty. We run programs that offer job opportunities to under-served populations, conduct research based on these programs, and administer a fellowship program for young professionals interested in public policy. The foundation also engages in advocacy efforts that promote economic self-reliance for needy individuals and produces research on ways to improve access for low-income individuals' entrance to the workforce. Today, we operate in San Francisco, New York, Washington D.C. and Baltimore, conducting demonstration programs that connect disadvantaged job seekers to opportunities.

The Work First Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Demonstration Programs

The Work First Foundation conducts demonstration programs that help unemployed individuals gain and retain jobs. Notably, the Work First Foundation has operated three successful employment demonstration programs in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, Maryland.

To view our demonstration program results please visit

The Work First Foundation seeks to identify approaches that successfully lead to meaningful employment for people on public assistance. As part of our mission, we collect data on effective employment programs around the United States so that government, job seekers, employers and private funders can make informed decisions on which programs to partner with.

The Work First Fellowship

The Work First Fellowship is a year of service that combines direct support to individuals living below the poverty level with research on the public policy that shapes the lives of the population they serve. The fellowship operates in New York, NY, Baltimore, MD, Washington, DC, Milwaukee, WI, and San Francisco, CA.

Take Action

If you are interested in fighting poverty through employment, we offer several opportunities to get involved. You can join the Work First Fellowship Advisory Council, become a Game Changer, or make a donation to help us connect people with employment.
