Linda Marks, MSM, is pioneer in body psychotherapy who has developed, taught and practiced Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy (EKP) for 29 years. She is also a singer/songwriter, and loves the way music can speak heart to heart.
Author of LIVING WITH VISION and HEALING THE WAR BETWEEN THE GENDERS, she co-founded the Massachusetts Association of Body Psychotherapists and Counseling Bodyworkers and is the founder of the Boston Area Sexuality and Spirituality Network. She holds degrees from Yale and MIT, and has a vital 18-year-old son.

Mother Nature and as many of my friends are calling it, "snowmaggedon" had a huge impact on all of our lives during January and February. Music gigs were snowed out. So, were music salon events, workshops and regular work. The passage of two cars down a street in opposite directions became a question, not a given!
Our vocabulary grew to include words like "ice dams," "roof raking" and "snow farms." And Noah, my corgi, felt like I was training him for the Iditarod.
Here's the March and being closer to spring! Hopefully, temperatures will warm so the snow can melt (and not flood). And we can get out and about more easily to fully engage in all parts of our lives!
We are looking for a new date to reschedule the February 15 concert at Amazing Things Arts Center, since Mother Nature snowed us out. I will announce details as soon as I know them.
One small piece of fun: On February 26, I went to see the Persuasions, a wonderful and historical a cappella group, sing at Scullers. Little did I know that I would be called upon to be their lead singer for their closing song, "In the Still of the Night." Thanks to Carole Bundy for the photo!

on March 8. Whether you are a singer who wants to sing or an audience member who wants to have a fun evening, come one and come all! We will have a potluck dinner too! The event begins at 5 pm at 11 Walton St, Waltham. A $10 donation is requested to help give our pianist an honorarium for her talents. Bring charts or sheet music for your favorite tunes.
Our Music Salon house concert with delightful father-son duo Jack and Jesse Gauthier has been moved to Sunday, April 19, thanks to snow.

When people are feeling lost, aimless or unmotivated, it is often because they lack a vision of what they want, where they want to be or what activities or work will bring them meaning and purpose. Vision can be like a flame of desire: once our passion catches on fire, there is lots of light and fuel for making it real.

Music is such a source of great joy, and is a universal language to connect people heart-to-heart. In the spirit, I am
working on recording a new CD,
"Heart-to-Heart," working with the extraordinarily talented
Doug Hammer at his Dreamworld Studio in Lynn, MA. We are now working on orchestration of the last bunch of songs. So, I look forward being able to announce the completion of the CD and a date for the CD release party.
Friends ask where they can see me sing. Some of the places I sing regularly are listed below. I guarantee you will have a fun time at all of them!

What is EKP?
|
|
EKP is Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy, a heart-centered, body-centered psychotherapy method Linda Marks developed and has taught and practiced for nearly twenty years. Working with the heart, touch with permission, the wisdom of the body and the intuitive guidance of the spirit, EKP creates a special sense of intimacy that deeply touches and transforms most all who participate.
Participants can be "client," witness or helper as an individual group member has a "turn" to do deeper heart-centered, body-centered psychospiritual work in the center. Since the electromagnetic field of the heart extends out 10 - 12 feet from our bodies, as we go deeper and open our hearts, we are all touched.
EKP helps restore our capacity as organs of perception. The skin is our largest organ, and a source of soul deep knowing, perception and expression. When our hearts and hands can work as one, we move beyond defenses safely and respectfully and find freedom, connection and expression.
 Emotional safety is the foundation of EKP. When we are emotionally safe, we are more aware of feelings, sensations and deeper thoughts in our bodies and hearts. You will have a chance to listen to and care for your heart as you help create and hold a safe healing space for everyone's heart. Experience what we mean when we say that in EKP, "when anyone has a turn, everyone has a turn." |
