FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT 
Kim Pierce attended the 2015 Select USA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C. March 23-24. 

The Summit, hosted by President Barack Obama, brought together more than 2500 attendees, including investors from more than 70 countries and representatives of economic development organizations from across the nation. 

Select USA is housed within the U.S. Department of Commerce and serves as a single port of contact at the federal level for businesses. They assist investors by connecting to economic developers (state & local); navigate the federal regulatory system; and find solutions to issues related to the federal government. 
 
Select USA works closely with U.S. economic development organizations to provide information and data; a platform for international marketing and high-level advocacy.   

COUNTY ROAD REFERENDUM    
McDonough County has 180 miles of county roads to mainta in; 14 miles are seal-coated (oiled and chipped) and 40 miles are hot -mix asphalts roads. 

The McDonough County Board unanimously approved bringing a  referendum to the voters for a sales tax increase of $0.0025 per $ 1.00 solely for the improvement costs  incurred of county roads and bridges. 

It is estimated the referendum will generate $500,000 to $600,000 per year based on recent sales tax revenue. It will support 40 miles of seal coat annually and put the county back on a normal maintenance cycle, which will allow for additional road improvements eac h year.    Vote YES April 7 

HAPPY RETIREMENT JOHN MAGUIRE  
After nearly eight years at McDonough District Hospital, John is making plans to play golf, travel and spend time with family and friends. John served on the MAEDCO Board of Directors for two years (2013 & 2014.)  Even though John has many plans for after retirement he will continue to serve as Chairman of the Macomb/McDonough County Enterprise Zone Management Board.
