 2017 City Council Election

The City of Lampasas is holding a General Election on May 6, 2017 for the purpose of electing Mayor and City Council members.

Mayor: Christian Toups
Place 1: (Expired term) Chris Harrison
Place 2: (Expired term) Robert McCauley
Place 6: (Expired term) T.J. Monroe

January 18, 2017: First day for filing application for place on ballot.

February 17, 2017: Deadline to file application for place on ballot. (Must be received by 5pm)

April 24, 2017 - May 2, 2017: Early voting by personal appearance begins at the Elections Administrator's Office, 407 S. Pecan, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, Monday-Friday. Tuesday, April 25 and Tuesday, May 2 early voting by personal appearance will run from 7am until 7pm.

May 6, 2017: Election Day, 7am-7pm at the Elections Administrator's Office, 407 S. Pecan, Lampasas, Texas.

Filing In Person:
Physical address for filing in person is 312 E. Third Street, Lampasas, Texas.

Filing by Mail:
Address to mail applications for place on the ballot (if filing by mail) is City Secretary, 312 E. Third Street, Lampasas, Texas 76550.

March 15: Cornelia Key Book Club(Prague Winter by Madeleine Albright) at 11am at the Lampasas Public Library. Discussion on book. Contact 512-556-3251.

March 16: Legos Robotics Class at the Lampasas Public Library at 2pm. Sign up at the Library. Must be at least 7 years old. Contact 512-556-3251.

March 22: "Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!" story time at the Lampasas Public Library at 10am. Contact 512-556-3251.

March 23: Read & Wine at the Lampasas Public Library from 6-8pm. Tickets will be sold at the Library. Contact 512-556-3251.

March 25: Lometa Diamondback Jubilee at the Lometa Regional Park. The event is all day, and free to the public. Contact David Smith at 512-752-3106.

March 25: Lampasas Mission 4-Person Scramble at Hancock Park Golf Course at 8am. Course closed at that time. Contact 512-556-3202.

March 30: Copperas Cove Middle School Golf Tournament at Hancock Park Golf Course at 3:30pm. Course closed at that time. Contact 512-556-3202.

SPRING BRUSH CHIPPING PROGRAM

The City will begin its brush chipping program in March. The pick up dates, areas and rules for the brush chipping program are as follows:

March 6 - March 10             Northwest section of the city. West of Key Avenue & north of First Street.
 
March 13 - March 17           Southwest section of the city. West of Key Avenue and south of First Street.
           
March 20 - March 24           Southeast section of the city. East of Key Avenue and south of First Street.
 
March 27 - March 31           Northeast section of the city. East of Key Avenue and north of First Street.
 
NOTE:City sponsored brush chipping will occur only during designated weeks and designated areas.
             
The following are the guidelines for the City's Brush Chipping Program.
 
                        - The brush is no longer than four feet in length;
                        - No lumber or trash will be picked up; and
                        - The bundle must be out by the curb, no alley pick up.

Photo-of-the-Month Contest: Enter our photo-of-the-month contest by visiting www.cityoflampasas.com for contest rules and emailing your photo to [email protected] . The City Council will announce the monthly winning photo at the first regular City Council meeting. Winners will receive a City of Lampasas insulated tumbler w/straw and posting of their photo on the web site.

Reminder from Lampasas Public Utilities: Sewer bills are based on the average water usage from December, January, and February. Please remember to notify LPU if you have any leaks during that time.

Can You Be Located In An Emergency? The owner of every house or building within the City is required to have a house number placed there on that is readily visible from the public right-of-way on which the structure fronts or faces. The numbers shall be a minimum of three inches in height and contrast with the background on which they are placed, made of material that will not tarnish, corrode or deteriorate unreasonably. Not only will this assist emergency personnel but the US Postal service as well.
