March 2017: Issue No. 16

Dear Library Community,

Thursday, March 2nd, was Dr. Seuss's birthday - a day on which libraries and schools across the nation acknowledge one of the world's most celebrated children's authors with Read Across America Day activities. We did our fair share of celebrating here in the library with a story time, craft and a very special visit from the fox, star of Seuss's classic Fox in Socks.

I love Read Across America Day because of the pure joy children and adults get from reading stories to each other.  Like one of the students I had the privilege of reading to observed, when discussing Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat , "I learned that the characters in these books are encouraging each other to have fun, that's the common story line!" And, that is our common theme; we want you to have fun at the library, read stories to each other and learn something new.  The legacy of Dr. Seuss lives on, not just on Read Across America Day, but everyday at the library.

Please enjoy some snapshots below!

Sincerely,

Kristin Nelson, Library Director
