FHBC to host first National Championships Festival!
We are excited to announce that we are hosting the first National Championships Festival for both females and males in three age categories: Under-15, Under-18 and Under-23.  The Championships will take place over an eight day period (July 17-25, 2017) in the City of Surrey and utilize the first class water-based field hockey facilities at Tamanawis Park.  The move to include an Under-23 division as well as to align all age groups to the Long-Term Athlete Development Model is  part of the recent strategic review by Field Hockey Canada and it's Provincial Partners.

BC Teams for the U15 and U18 divisions will be selected from the respective FHBC Regional Programs. The U23 teams, however, will be selected from an open tryout held in June. Please visit the Men's Learn 2 Win (U23) webpage or Women's Learn 2 Win (U23) webpage for more information. Both pages will be updates as more information becomes available.

The Canadian Women's National Team will be competing against Belarus, Chile, India, Mexico, Trinidad & Tobago, and Uruguay in an attempt to qualify for World League Round 3 and a chance to reach the 2018 Women's World Cup. If you are unable to attend the Hockey World League Round 2 tournament at the beginning of the tournament, but still want to watch some international hockey, then you're in luck! Canadian Men at World League Round 2
The Canadian Men's National Team are in Tacarigua, Trinidad & Tobago for Hockey World League Round 2. This will be the team's first competition of 2017, and first time back since the 2016 Olympic Games in August. World League also serves as a qualifying opportunity for the 2018 World Cup. The top two teams from Round 2 will advance to World League Round 3 where top finishers will qualify for the upcoming FIH World Cup. This is very similar to Canada's path to the Olympic Games.

The Men's World League Round 2 is being held in T&T from March 25th - April 2nd. Canada will compete in pool-play against Barbados, Chile and USA and have potential crossover matches against Japan, Russia, Switzerland or Trinidad & Tobago. For more information about the tournament, visit the FIH Event Page.

Sixteen BC athletes were named to the team competing at World League, including Balraj Panesar and Brandon Pereira who are making the jump from the Junior National Team to Senior National Team. View the full eighteen-man roster on Field Hockey Canada's website.
