2017 Use Your Feet for Freedom
USE YOUR FEET FOR FREEDOM 5K
Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 8:00 a.m.

Take a step toward ending human trafficking by participating in the family-friendly "Use Your Feet for Freedom" 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, May 6, with proceeds benefiting Freedom House. Once again, Palo Alto Vineyard Church is hosting its annual event at Mitchell Park, which is located at 600 East Meadow Drive in Palo Alto. The popular community park is the perfect setting for a festive morning filled with fun activities. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. For more information, please contact Niki Liming at [email protected].

In addition to Palo Alto Vineyard Church, Freedom House would like to thank other advocates and supporters who independently raise funds for our shelter programs. Amy Quartermaine started her own GoFundMe campaign; artist Erika Steponic of The Sparrow's Nest Studio devotes countless hours to build awareness and raise crucial funds through her unique designs; and author Barney Wiget donates all proceeds from the sale of his book, "The Other End of the Dark," to Freedom House. We are grateful for their entrepreneurial efforts and commitment to the survivors we serve.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Jessica Hyde

Jessica Hyde calls herself an artist whose medium is everything. As a woman in tech in Silicon Valley, she is learning to build change. While Jessica loves to code, she believes people, not technology, are the solution to most problems. After hearing a personal story of human trafficking from a friend about a year ago, she started searching for organizations in the fight. She attended the Freedom House Gala in April 2016 and says she will never forget the survivor who spoke there. Jessica started as an Advocate Volunteer in September and has spoken many times since then for Freedom House and other anti-trafficking groups. She is super happy that she convinced her employer, Houzz, to donate to Freedom House in December! Jessica says she is always trying to think of more ideas to use art, technology, and love, to empower women.
