Greetings Culinarians and Associates,

Board Meeting

We had a great board meeting at Purato's this month.  We were treated to some great fresh baked artisan bread with cheese and meats.  Also some very nice chocolate to top it off.  If you have not been to Purato's you should swing in and take a look at their beautiful kitchen and talk with them about their products.

Our final check was received and deposited from the Governor's ball.  Jeff Pratt will work on a budget for the next four years and present it to the board at our next meeting in April.  Overall we did well but we need to make sure that we are smart and make good choices on venues for events.

Bite of Apprenticeship

Our Bite of the Apprenticeship will be April 10th this year and profits will benefit Prostart. We are inviting all ProStart students, chefs and instructors to come to the Bite for free.  For all others coming the cost will be $10.00 per person.  We will have Beer, Wine and sodas available with a nominal cost for the beer and wine. There are incredible dishes to taste and judge for yourself. Please come and enjoy a great dining experience and taste the apprentice's best dishes. The reception starts at 6pm and should be wrapped up by 8pm. We will be holding a 50/50 drawing during the event so bring a few dollars for a chance to win a cash prize based on participation.  Visit the website  for more info and to register online!

Memorial Service for Walter Bronowitz

I reported in my last president's message the passing of one of our own, Chef Walter Bronowitz.  Diane Easley has sent us the information for the memorial service.  I have pasted it to this message for everyone to see below.  We have asked that those that can, to please sign up with Gary Fuller (email him at [email protected]) to bring something for the memorial and send off.  We are chefs and should not have a problem making this send-off representative of our trade and craft.  Thank you to all that have already made commitments to this.

Note from Diane Easley

Hello dear ones,

A memorial and send-off for my handsome husband and our great friend, Walter Bronowitz, will be held Saturday, April 8th from 4-10pm at the Lake Forest Park Civic Club 17301 Beach Dr. NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155.

Please come prepared to celebrate this great man with ceremony of both the solemn and light-hearted variety!  We will have food and drinks, be surrounded by friends, will dance into the night and of course have a ceremonial send-off befitting Walter.

Everyone who knew Walter and/or is a friend of Diane is welcome. Please RSVP by responding to this e-mail or to  [email protected].

A video for the memorial is being created and I would LOVE copies of any photographs or video you have of Walter. Please email them to me.  Thank you SO much.

For more information, to share your thoughts and (when I get it prepared) to read his obituary, please go here:

As we honor Chef Walter it would be wonderful if Chefs attending wear their Chefs coats in his honor.

Your help in sharing this email with anyone who knew Walter is appreciated.

For the numerous condolences and many acts of kindness since Walter died on February 9th I am sincerely grateful.

Thank you.
Diane Easley
