South Africa's national academy on green economy fosters change

Stepen Barrow, a consultant at the South African Organic Sector Organisation (SAOSA), was among 100 people who took part in the country's national academy on green economy.

"This has been an amazing opportunity to expand our horizons and interact with folk from different sectors of the green economy," Barrow said.

How green fiscal reform could influence country policies towards more sustainable natural resource management practices

Mr. Martin van Brakel currently works at the  WorldFish Bangladesh & South Asia  office as a Fisheries Scientist. He is leading the efforts to improve livelihoods of communities that rely on the hilsa shad (ilish fish) for the Enhanced Coastal Fisheries in Bangladesh (ECOFISH) project. Occasionally, he works as a consultant to assess aquatic resource-based livelihoods practices and ecotourism development, including recreational fisheries in other countries in the South Asia region.

Laying the foundations for green economic growth in Guyana

The Partnership for Action on Green Economy held a mission to Guyana, which joined PAGE in March 2017, to support the country’s efforts to transition to an inclusive green economy through the creation of a Green State Development Policy (GSDP).

Burkina Faso : Burkina Faso has submitted a request to PAGE to receive training on Green Economy modelling to help inform the impacts of its National Green Economy Strategy.

The earth is excellent. It's the only planet with Netflix, Coca-Cola and my kids. I worry about how we're broiling it with greenhouse gases, how its ice caps are melting and it coral reefs are dying. I''m freaked out that we're damaging it ability to sustain us, and that this might be the only thing that future generations remember about us.

And yet ... meat is also excellent. I eat a lot of it, even though every bite makes climate change a bit worse.

Since its inception in 2013, the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) has grown into a prominent alliance of five UN agencies , eight funding partners and thirteen countries that work together to transform economies into drivers of sustainability by addressing pollution, unemployment, stagnated growth, and socio-economic inequalities.
