See you Sunday!
This week in worship...Lenten Sermon Series
Sermon Series
Sermon Series: CrossWalk
The central identifying symbol of our Christian faith is the cross.  While we may cherish "the old rugged cross" and what Jesus did for us there, it also represents a calling to live a certain kind of life that puts us in direct conflict with the values and understandings of those around us.  Combined with beautiful and inspiring music, the CrossWalk sermon series will offer an intriguing and moving view of the Passion of Christ that is sure to prepare each of us for a fresh experience of Holy Week and the triumph of Easter.

Sermon Title: "The Cross-Bearer"

Scripture:    Luke 23:26-31

Dr. Will Cotton will preach at the 8:30 and 11 am worship services this Sunday. Rev. Katie Meek will preach at the 9:400 am service. The Austin Trombone Ensemble will be playing at the sanctuary services.  The Source , our weekly devotional guide, is available on the church website

Please join us in worship this Sunday at  8:30 am (Sanctuary), 9:40 am (FLC), or 11 am (Sanctuary).
New Podcast Series...What Actually Happened on the Cross?
Lenten Podcast

What Actually Happened on the Cross?
Check out the First Church Podcast for a four-week series on what actually happened on the cross. What did Jesus accomplish with his death? How was God's power shown? How do we relate to sin and evil now that the cross has happened? Did Jesus have to be raised for the cross to be complete?
Most people say that Jesus died for my sins. What does that mean? And does that tell the whole story?

The second podcast will be posted this weekend. You can subscribe through  iTunes  or by following us on  Soundcloud . You can also find information at http://fumc-rr.org/podcasts. Subscribe to the podcasts so you won't miss any.
Resurrection Celebration is coming up on April 9
Resurrection Celebration

Resurrection Celebration...a Holy Week Tradition at First Church
The event will be held on Palm Sunday, April 9, 9:30-11:30 am. Children, accompanied by parents, will get to experience five events that occurred during Holy Week. There will be volunteers in costume and "in character" portraying someone who was actually present during Holy Week. They will talk about the importance of each event in terms children can understand. Begin your journey on Palm Sunday with Lewis the donkey, who will be grazing under the Council Oak Tree, near the playground. Children's programming will continue as normal on Palm Sunday, but you will have the opportunity to attend Resurrection Celebration after Sunday School. Please allow 50 minutes to visit all five stations.

Kids for Christ Council

VBS 2017
It's time to volunteer for VBS
VBS registration is currently open to children of volunteers. We want to open registration to all, but in order to do that, we must have more volunteers.
There are many different volunteer jobs...crew leader, station leader and more. You don't have to have children at VBS. We love having grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends as volunteers. You don't have to be female. Male volunteers are great also. Why not take a week this summer to make a positive difference in the lives of our children...and have a lot of fun in the process. Come for Coffee and Discussion
Our Young Adult Group (ages 18+) is a wonderful opportunity to meet people your same age and stay connected. Through this group we hope to build friendships and connections through fellowship opportunities.

We meet every Wednesday at 7 pm at different coffee shops in the Round Rock area. We spend time hanging out and catching up on our week. We then begin our study/discussion which is focused on the intersection of Christianity and Culture. Culture influences everything about our lives, as should our faith, so we want to have intentional conversations about different aspects of cultural or social pressures and how we can be in the world and not of the world.

We will also have fellowship nights to enjoy a fun activity or dinner. We will do things such as Taco Tuesday at Rosa's, bowling, Express game, etc.

If you are interested in being apart of this group and want information on where we will meet this week, email Dan Hunter, dan@fumc-rr.org.
