Studying Our Presidents
During the month of February, our kindergarten class celebrates a variety of holidays; Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, Groundhogs Day and Abraham Lincoln and George Washington's birthdays. While our math lessons taught us about coin values and simple addition, we also focused on the presidents that appear on coins and some facts about them. Here are some of the Abraham Lincoln projects we made! It was a fun month!

Celebrating 100 Days
First Grade celebrated our 100th Day of School on February 14th! We are now 100 days smarter!! We made a special snack, some groovy glasses, counted to 100, built different objects using 100 of different materials, and thought about and wrote about what we would want 100 of and what we would not want 100 of! We also drew what we thought we would look like in 100 years. We had a great day!!
Medieval Times in 5th Grade
On Thursday, March 2nd, the fifth graders had a feast to celebrate their study of medieval times. After reading the book, Castle in the Attic, they took parts of lords and ladies and feasted the day away. There was entertainment and lots of eating! Fun was had by all!
Cobbossee Watershed Visits 4th Grade
Cobbossee Watershed visited fourth grade on Monday, February 27th, and Monday, March 6th. On the first visit, Miss Cami invited students to design a lakeside piece of property. Students were introduced to the vocabulary "previous" and "impervious" surfaces, as well as buffer. It rained, and then their property was polluted. Students discussed how the pollution could have been kept from the lake.
On the next visit students created a groundwater model. They "dug their well" on their property. While using water from their well, they noticed how clean the water was and how the water level dropped. After adding pollution, such as pesticides, students noticed how the water changed. Students discussed what people can do to keep their well water clean.
Fourth grade would like to thank Miss Cami and Cobbossee Watershed for 5 wonderful visits this year that enhanced their science curriculum. The hands on activities were not only fun, but very educational.
Girls Basketball Season
Congratulations to our girls basketball team. They played hard and with spirit all season long. This tremendous effort got them to the semi-finals in the Sheepscot Valley Athletic Conference. Thank you to our coaches, Rollin Pelkey-head coach, and Andrew Pullen-assistant coach. Your time and expertise were greatly appreciated! Great job Saints!

Boys Basketball Season
Congratulations to our boys jv and varsity basketball teams. Both teams had an undefeated season and played every game like a well-oiled machine. Our boys varsity team won the Sheepscot Valley Athletic Conference and are now the SVAC Champions for a second year in a row. Thank you to our coaches: boys jv-David Hopkins, and our boys varsity-Gary Hawkins, head coach, along with Denise Douin, assistant coach. It is because of your knowledge, effort and patience that our boys teams were such a great success! Way to go Saints!
After Crafters Wraps Up Their Winter Session
The After Crafters' groups finished the winter session making God's Eye inspired edible art. It was a fun time. The next After Crafters spring session start dates are April 4th and 6th. Ending dates are the 16th and 18th of May.
St. Patrick's Day Concert
On March 9th our small but mighty seventh grade students visited the Maine Veteran's Home for a St. Patrick's Day concert. The kids performed 5 or 6 Irish songs (Danny Boy, Irish Eyes, etc.) and then did several patriotic songs to complete the concert part of their visit. At that point, our students presented cards and Irish trinkets to our great veterans. More importantly, they presented themselves to these folks as young friends. It is so heartwarming to see a 13 year-old chatting with a 93 year-old WWII veteran and both of them actually enjoying it immensely! Seventh grade parents, you should be proud of your children! We certainly are!
