Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March isn't just a month to celebrate the luck of the Irish; it's a month to celebrate developmental disabilities awareness!

In the year 1987, President Ronald Reagan passed a proclamation declaring March Developmental Disabilities (DD) Awareness Month.

Since then, a lot of progress has been made. In 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act, a civil rights law, was established prohibiting discrimination against people with disabilities in various circumstances such as employment, transportation and government activities.

However, there is still much advancement to be made. Abilities Network is celebrating DD Awareness Month by educating the public and advocating for those individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Knowledge is power and should be contagious so celebrate this month with us by educating yourself and others!

Purple Day

Help increase epilepsy awareness by celebrating Purple Day on Wednesday, March 26!

What do you have to do? It's easy! Wear purple on Purple Day and encourage others to do the same.

Abilities Network/EFCR will be celebrating Purple Day by presenting a puppet show and handing out epilepsy-related information at Ebb Valley Elementary School in Manchester, Md.

However, Abilities Network/EFCR doesn't simply celebrate epilepsy awareness one day a year - We celebrate every day through education and advocacy!
