Purim, 2012
Dressing Up * Dancing * Storytelling * Snacks

Whether you want to look fabulous or frightening, wear your best costume and win a prize in our costume parade.

It's a  mitzvah  to hear the Story of Esther! Cheer for our brave heroine and boo the evil Haman when resident tale spinner, Eden Nameri, tells the whole  megillah .

Please bring desserts and other snacks to share. If you can. Hamentashen is especially welcome.

Later in the evening, there will be a pyjama party for kids. Bring your PJs and your sleeping bag and get comfortable while enjoying movies and snacks.

Grownups will dance (most of) the night away.

If possible, please let us know you are coming by emailing [email protected] by Wednesday, March 8th. Tell us how many adults and how many kids to expect.

We are looking for volunteers to:

 - Run karaoke
-  Set up and clean up
-  Supply prizes for the costume party
-  Provide entertainment

Please email [email protected] to offer to help out.

OUR NEW JEWISH-THEMED FILM SERIES!

We are pleased to announce three free screenings in our new series, to take place at The 519, a community centre on Church Street (Room 301), on the following Sunday afternoons, from 1:30-4:30 p.m.:  April 30th, May 28th and June 18th.

The first screening on April 30th will be the German-Jewish comedy,  Go for Zucker (Alles Auf Zucker), a hilarious, award-winning film, which has had screenings at the TJFF. This G erman comedy film, released internationally in 2004, is one of the very few movies about German Judaism that does not have the Shoah at its core, but instead is a comedy about the crazy twists and turns of fate that befall a family, which finds itself again.   (English subtitles)

If you wish, please bring your own snack and beverage.

Our Condolences

With sadness, we convey our condolences to Marc Green, Arlene Hazzan Green and Doran Hazzan Green, upon the death of Joseph (Joe) Green, beloved father, father-in-law and grandfather.  Mr. Green died on Feb. 3, 2017, in Toronto. He lived  a remarkable life, as a scholar, film and tv producer and social activist. "Of all his many achievements, he was able to leave one last impression on us with a very generous, open, and honest exploration of facing death via an interview with the CBC," says Marc, who was involved in this project with his father. The links to that documentary are listed below, after his obituary.

May the memory of Joseph (Joe) Green be a blessing.
