Bones
You might have seen our post about a dog we have started calling "Bones", and we wanted to provide the caring community an update on this pup. Bones was found on Morganza Turner Road in St. Mary's County and brought to our shelter on January 31. As you can see from the picture, Bones is skin and bones but he's making baby steps putting back on much needed weight.  This has required feeding him small meals throughout the day.  Bones will need to be at a healthier weight before he can even begin any treatment for heartworm disease.  Can you help Bones with his some of his medical care?  Any amount will help.
It is easy to donate, and any amount would be greatly appreciated.  Just click on "DONATE"  and then select the link for "Honey's Fund."   Honey's Fund is a designated medical fund which is earmarked to help treat pets such as Bones who need more extensive medical care.  Bones will need to be treated for heartworm once he reaches a healthier weight to tolerate the treatment, as well as Lyme Disease.
We truly do thank you for your help and support of Bones and "Honey's Fund"!

ADOPT a homeless pet.
If you cannot adopt,  FOSTER.
If you cannot foster,  DONATE.
If you cannot donate,  VOLUNTEER.

Knut
Knut's story is one of sadness and uncertainty, but that all changed with the help of Social Media and sharing Knuts' story.
Knut was surrendered to the shelter with a stab wound to his rear leg.  It was also determined after seeing the veterinarian, that Knut had what looked to be a cancerous mass on his paw, however, chances were 50/50, and to remove that mass would have required amputating 3 toes.  For his age, it was decided to leave it be.  Knut's stab wound was stitched up and bandaged, and then we set out to make sure this old man found a home!
Knut had some obstacles, he was older, he was stabbed, and he may or may not have cancer!  The staff just couldn't have Knut's last memory of being stabbed and then dropped at a shelter, so Knut's story was shared and re-shared over 60 times, and viewed by roughly 7,000 people.  One of those people saw that face and read his story and knew Knut needed her home!  Joann Ananiew who resides in South Carolina who is an Irish Wolfhound lover wanted to make sure Knut found his happily ever after!  With the help of Last Chance Animal Rescue, who provided his freedom ride to be a part of the Ananiew family!  Thank you community for all of your help advocating for this fellow!

You can help the shelter in other ways!
