Every year around this time I begin to think about what I want to do with the rest of my life.  It also coincides with it being my birthday month and I feel as if I'm on a bullet train attempting to slow it down so I can accomplish everything that I still want to do. At the same time I want to savor each minute by creating space inside me to enjoy my life no matter what I'm doing.  I must be true to each choice I make in order not to live with regret.

I've begun to write songs again after more than 12 years. My teacher, Tret Fure, gently guides me to write about what's inside of me no matter what that is.  I thought I would sit down and write a song about my mother but out came the "Roku Blues"!  That's what was there; that's what wanted to be heard!  Go figure.  But that's also what needed my voice right now so I felt I was true to my creative process.  Your song is in there, mom, and when the table has been set, it will appear.

It's been interesting returning to my songwriting, guitar and singing. I had not realized how much I missed that part of my expression. I am committed to writing a new song every three weeks because I know that will be a part of my legacy, a part of my history and a record of who I was on this earth.  I say this not because I need to leave that to be remembered, but because I think we all have a very special place here that needs to be acknowledged.  What expression of you will you give as a gift to the Universe?

If you have something that you know you need to create, that is burning to be heard, seen, tasted or felt by others, please give us that gift!  I am far the poorer for not being privy to your magnificence, your unique divine self.  Show us all your light!
