Thank you!
NLCS Speech Meet
The speech meet is Friday, March 24th, @ 10:30 a.m. in the school sanctuary. Parents are welcome; but we ask if you have younger children to please make other arrangements for them. Our students are working very hard on their speeches and don't need any distractions while they're up on stage. Thank you!
We will also be having early dismissal at 1 p.m.   for grades 1st - 8th.
 Green Day
Green Day will be held Friday, March 17th. The students who wear green will earn points for their team and those who go "all out" wearing the color green, will earn double points!
                     Spring Fundraiser
Our Spring Fundraiser has been changed to Friday, April 28. We will post details soon.
Girls' Getaway : Building Healthy                   Relationships
Mark your calendars for the retreat! Ladies in grades 7th - 12th are welcome. It will be held on April 8th and 9th. Details to follow!
Achievement Testing
Mandatory Achievement Testing will begin April 3rd - 13th. Please try to avoid scheduling any appointments, vacations, etc...during this time. It is critical your child is here on time, rested, and has had a well balanced breakfast. Thank you!
Boys' Basketball
Boys' basketball season has just ended. We would like to thank Brandee Thompson, Valerie Holmes, and Lexie Valenzuela for all the time and skill you gave to coach our boys' team this year! We can only do these things because everyone helps and volunteers their valuable time.

During P.E. the students have been enjoying the game of tetherball! Each player tries to hit the ball one way, clockwise, and the other player, counterclockwise. The game ends when one player manages to wind the ball all the way around the pole so that it is stopped by the rope. There has been some fun competitiveness between the students!
We had three special guests on March 3rd! Sage Johnson, Kayla Natt, and Savanah Johnson shared during chapel. They all did a wonderful job sharing their hearts with our student body! We are blessed!
Spain Trip
There will be an important meeting on March 14, at 5:00 p.m. for the 7th - 9th grade parents regarding our next planned Spain trip in 2020. The meeting will be held at our school, and we will be discussing a time- frame for going, possible fund raisers, expectations of participants and advice from those of us who experienced form our past trip.
If you are even thinking about this trip; it would be great to see you at this meeting. It will help us start making definite plans on Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How this will take place.

Great Beginnings Preschool
We have been having a great time here at school! For Dr. Seuss Day, we made a book, did artwork, and had a themed lunch. It has been so fun to see all the children's imaginations come alive!

1st and 2nd Grade
The first and second grade class has been learning about the human body. We had fun putting velcro organs on Kingston.

The "100th Day of School" was filled with fun math activities. We made necklaces out of 100 fruit loops measured with candy hearts, filled in number charts adding up to 100, made thumbprint gum ball machines, decorated cookies, and had a party!

Several times a week the first and second grader students dance and sing to math songs. "Freeze and Move Math" is one of their favorites.

3rd and 4th Grade
The third and fourth grade are finishing up their first section of music theory and have mastered all the notes in the treble and bass clef! Wow! They are even saying, "That's easy!" Next they will be applying what they have learned to playing our recorders!

5th and 6th Grade
The 5/6th grade class earned a celebration day for getting 1,000 merits. They started the morning off with swimming at the Redwood Hotel in Fortuna and had a pizza lunch delivered to the meeting room at the hotel. After swimming students enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in their classroom and watched a movie together! Way to go class!!
In History class we finished up our section of study about Asia with country reports. Each student chose a country in the continent of Asia to do an oral presentation and poster board of the country. We learned interesting facts about the Dead Sea in Israel, we saw money from Saudi Arabia, and learned about what flags represented for many of the countries.

7th and 8th Grade
The 7th/8th grade room has been improved by the addition of two sets of handsome shelving, kindly donated by a local family last summer. The assembly had to wait for a volunteer and finally, our own Blayne Wiley stepped forward and did the job expertly in one day.
Our room looks much better and all the books now have a home after other members of the class rearranged the entire setup. Thank you Rebekah Long for being our ongoing and efficient librarian.

High School
Our high school students have been working hard on all their work, and it shows! Jakeb earned a 3.83 GPA, Tristen a 3.69 GPA, and Kayla a 4.0 GPA and they made the "A" Honor Roll. Both Sage and Shawn earned a 3.33 GPA and they both made the "B" Honor Roll. Great Job!!
