PHC Mallards
Year end celebrations took place last weekend with Pterrys and Lucky Lab coming to serve food and hot chocolate to all of our Mallards families. The Mallards put in a lot of hard work during the 2015-2016 season. In addition to roughly 20 tournament games, Robby Glantz Power Skating Camp, Summer Training Camp, Saturday night scrimmages and 24 4 v 4 competitions, our Bantams put in roughly 160 practice hours, our Peewees roughly 140 practice hours and our squirts roughly 120 practice hours.
The main goal of the Mallards program is to work on fundamental skill development in a fun setting, unlike most youth sport programs today that place great emphasis on formal competition at a very young age. This typically happens at the expense of player development and parents' bank accounts. We will continue to grow players with USA Hockey's Long Term Athlete Development program because we have seen the results with players who are now at the Peewee and Bantam age division. We are very excited about the future of youth hockey here in Austin!
Stay tuned for next season's program information which promises to be bigger, better and "full"er!
