What's Happening at KHS
URGENT ACTION ALERT!

Two animal welfare bills need your support! Last week we asked for your help to get a senate committee to support a bill that would help reduce cruelty and neglect in our state - and it worked!

SB 5356 has moved from that committee to the Rules Committee, along with another important animal welfare bill, SB 5094, which would limit breed discrimination. Now legislators need to hear from you that these bills need to be scheduled for a full vote on the Senate floor, and supported in that vote!
Cabin Fever Tips for Your Pet!
Before the glorious PNW summer arrives, the weather can be less than hospitable for pets and their owners. Spending more time indoors, pets and people are both at risk of experiencing some “cabin fever” and owners may notice an uptick in behavior problems due to increased boredom and lack of outside time. Here are some easy tips to help your cats and dogs ward off the dreaded cabin fever!
My Furry Valentine Recap
The animals at Kitsap Humane Society are feeling the love—and it’s all because of you!

Over 150 valentines were sent to nearly 70 shelter pets during the first 2 weeks of February as part of our My Furry Valentine campaign. Together we raised $3,775 to continue the lifesaving work we do here at KHS. To read more about My Furry Valentine and see pictures of animals being showered with love, visit our website.

Volunteer Spotlight
Darren Towne

Meet this month’s Volunteer Spotlight – Darren!  Darren just reached his one year anniversary of volunteering at Kitsap Humane Society and has served nearly 300 volunteer hours with our shelter!  Darren has worked his way up to the role of “Lead Dog Walker” and comes in several times a week to walk dogs.  In addition, he enjoys taking our long-term residents on shelter breaks and hikes throughout Kitsap County.  When asked what he enjoys most about volunteering at Kitsap Humane Society, Darren said: “Being around the animals is one of the best stress relievers of my day."  Thank you, Darren, for all you do!

Community Spotlight
Raise a glass for our community partners!
