Full steam ahead!

Ok everyone,

Now is the time I'm REALLY counting on you to buy, bid and breeze along with us! We have Rhythm in Motion coming up in March/April, TWO National Tap Dance Day events in May, our year-end Youth & Adult Program Concerts in June and of course Tap City in July!

Our Winter Tap Intensive was a success! Thank you Task Force for supporting and thank you Gabe for organizing another HOOT of a Tap Jam.

Don't miss our next Tap Talk with the amazing Brenda Bufalino on March 17. And PLEASE come to Rhythm in Motion March 29 - April 2 and support our Artists in Residence. We also have an online auction going live soon. We are fundraising (big surprise) again for ALL the ATDF programs we present, so please support us by purchasing those VIP Donor level tickets at Rhythm in Motion. We don't ask too much do we?

In May you might want to join us by participating in  the annual Dance Parade on May 20 and our annual Tap Attack on May 21 (details below)

Also, you might want to take a special look at our featured event Tap Ellington on July 14 during Tap City. We are celebrating the incredible Duke by inducting him into the Hall of Fame (our first musician) and then presenting a fantastic concert at Jazz at Lincoln Center! You HAVE to come.

(7:30-9:30pm)
Making a Tap Dance w/BRENDA BUFALINO
Come enjoy, and contribute to a discussion about tap dance composition and choreography; from the three minute routines for the vaudeville stage, musical theater and musical movies, to the creation of a new concept in tap choreography...extended compositions for the concert stage.

The event will be led by Bessie Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Brenda Bufalino, who began her career as a variety artist, and became best known internationally for her groundbreaking, solo full length tap performances, and her creation of over 150 works for her companies; including the American and International Tap Dance Orchestras.  We will look at and discuss a classic three minute routine of Honi Coles and Bufalino, Bubba Gaines, and the duo of LaVaughn Robinson and Germaine Ingram, as well as deconstruct some of Bufalino's solos from "Cantata & the Blues," and seminal works for the ATDO.   Ms. Bufalino will read passages from her memoir, "Tapping the Source...Tap Dance Stories, Theory and Practice," which has been re-published by Codhill Press.
