Greetings!

Memo from Marilyn:

Hello again - We're home, if only for a few days before we take off again for the next quilt show which is in Naples' March 1st and 2nd, and Sarasota's show is March 8th and 9th.  We always love traveling around the state to these various quilt shows but when it's all over, "There's no place like home!".

In between these shows we will have our customary End of Month, End of the Bolt 30% off Sale.  While you're here please remember to check out our $4.50 a yard Sale Fabric - it's great for backings!

Marian Jacket

The Northerners are back at Country Quilts and Bears and they are looking for Marian's popular Sweatshirt Class!

Here it is.  If you've made one, come on back and make another.  If you've never made one, come in and have fun making a jacket that you will wear out the door at the end of the second session.

If you are interested, you will need one UNWASHED sweatshirt with set-in sleeves that is one size bigger than you normally would wear.  These sweatshirts are a bit difficult to find, so be on the lookout for yours!

There are five jackets to choose from so come into the shop and choose yours today.  We will then give you the supply list for the one you want to make

For $30 you can come in on ANY two Thursdays, from 10:00 to 2:00.  It takes two sessions to make your jacket.

The remaining days are March 7th, March 21st, and March 28th.  Choose any two days before she is gone

Scrap Busting String Class with Susan Freebery
Civil War String

We are going to offer a class on Saturday, March 16th to teach string block assembly.  This class does not require a book or pattern but we are sure that when you complete your first string block quilt, you will be hungry as can be for more patterns and inspiration to use up your stash.  It's a fun and easy project that is as simple and economical as can be.  The quilt you make can be as big as you want, or as small as you would like it to be.  The fabric you use can be brights, civil war, batiks, patriotics, a combination of all, or whatever suits your mood and stash.

Scrappy StringTo the right is a baby floor quilt using brights (great baby shower gift!) and above is a bed quilt using civil war scraps - both used up a tremendous amount of scraps from Susan's stash!

Susan will also be showing samples of many different projects you can make using your newly acquired string block skills.  Many of these samples won't even need a pattern for you to create them.

Call today to reserve a spot for this Scrap Busting String Quilt Class!

Hand Quilting with Diane Hosman
Hand Quilting D Hosman

The domestic art of hand quilting is back in vogue and in full swing. More and more people are expressing a desire to finish off their pieced and appliqued quilt tops with beautiful hand stitches. Join us in small classes where you learn the values of fabric, needles, thread, hoops, and thimbles.

You'll also learn how to avoid carpel tunnel syndrome while quilting.

One of the many pleasures of hand quilting is the peacefulness that takes over when the fingers begin to move in a quiet rhythm. Come join us in the resurrection of this gentle art. If you have had any doubts about this hand-craft, please remember we all started with big, uneven stitches, but we had to start somewhere!

Saturday, March 30th or Saturday, April 13th.  10:00-2:00. $30.00.

Supply list available at the shop.

Wrap It Up Basket Class with Susan Freebery
Susan Basket

Wrap, wind, and sew fabric strips into fantastic containers, place mats, rugs, purses or trivets.  Create all those things using cotton clothesline and strips of fabric from your stash or yardage that you cut into strips.  This is a fun, easy and rewarding class and you will leave with a basket you are proud to call your own using fabrics you already have in your stash!

How about making one from that left over fabric from a baby quilt and it can then be used to hold loose items in the nursery.  Or how about starting early to prepare for Christmas 2013?  These baskets make marvelous gifts when given, full or empty!
