THE HARWOOD GOES TO THE GETTY MUSEUM!

Thanks to the work of a fabulous team, the Harwood is making great progress in implementing its IMLS-funded collections management project.

Michael Smith and
Debi Vincent at the
 J. Paul Getty Museum
To ensure that the Harwood is establishing and following best practices in digital imaging, Coordinator of Collections Management Debi Vincent recently spent three days at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles meeting with colleagues in the Getty's Collection Information and Access area.   Guided by Michael Smith, Assistant Manager of Imaging Services, Debi met with the Head of that area, with Getty colleagues using GallerySystems' TMS collection management system (which the Harwood is acquiring through our IMLS grant), and with photographers creating digital images of objects in the Getty Museum's collection.

We're deeply grateful to our colleagues at the J. Paul Getty Museum for their remarkable collegiality, and for so generously sharing their expertise with the Harwood Museum of Art.

FROM THE DIRECTOR
Susan Longhenry

Dear Friends,

What a thrill it was to welcome over 500 of you to the Harwood Museum of Art last week to celebrate our new exhibitions. Don't worry if you missed the celebratory events, the exhibitions will be on view through May 4!

And now we welcome March, which starts off strong with two terrific programs on Saturday, March 1.  We begin with a 2:00 p.m. screening of the 2014 Oscar-nominated animated short films, followed by a 7:00 p.m. concert with Patrick Ball entitled Legends of the Celtic Harp. And that's just the first day of the month! Be sure to read about all of the other terrific programs that we've scheduled for you during March.

Last but not least, I extend a personal invitation to all Harwood Museum Alliance Members to participate in one of the informal forums taking place this month. We're hosting these conversations in order to create a dialogue with our members - we want to get to know you, and to understand how your membership can best serve you!

Be Inspired throughout the month of March at your Harwood Museum of Art.

 Warm Regards,
