GRADUATE SPOTLIGHT
By Osman, MTW Graduate

My name is Osman and I am a MTW graduate. Before MTW, I was having trouble finding a job and wasn’t sure where to start. I heard about MTW from a friend and was excited to hear that I could get paid to work on my school work!

My time at MTW was amazing. I really liked going on site visits to colleges, companies, and organizations to learn about different type of careers. MTW also really helped me develop my English language skills. Coming from another country, I appreciated the opportunity to learn how to interact with my co-workers and be a part of a team.

I graduated from More Than Words in November and immediately started working at Costco. I was excited to get a job right away. I really like working for Costco because I feel valued there and schedule allows me to stay focused on school. In the future, I want to go to college and study engineering.

MORE THAN WORDS ATTENDS EVENT WITH NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, BOSTON COMMUNITY, AND MAYOR WALSH
by Kyla, MTW Partner
Last month, I was invited by Ted Tye of National Development to represent MTW, alongside our CEO, Jodi Rosenbaum, at an event at Ink Block Boston. During the event, I was able to speak in front of the entire room of Boston developers and share my life story. I spoke about the barriers I’ve overcome in my life, my accomplishments at MTW and my goals for the future- which include going back to school to become a trauma nurse.

After my speech, I was able to meet Mayor Marty Walsh.  He reminded me of the importance of secondary education and to stay motivated in order to reach my goals. Thank you National Development and thank you Mayor Walsh for this opportunity to share my story!
ALL-STAR BOOK DRIVES
by Chris, MTW Senior Partner

Thank you to Brookline Booksmith and Harvard Kennedy School for donating an incredible number of books through their book drives! Brookline Booksmith hosted a drive for MLK Day and were able to collect 2,000 books and Harvard Kennedy School were able to collect 3,500 books. Because 100% of our inventory is from donations, these donations are essential to keeping our youth-run business operating!
