The 2016 San Diego International Mariachi Summit is almost here!! If you don't have your tickets yet, please hurry: the Aug. 21 concert with Mariachi Vargas and the San Diego Symphony is getting close to sold out, and our TV/radio advertising doesn't even start until next week! So don't wait, you might not be able to get in! And we have several other awesome events all week from Aug. 18-22.

But the news of this week is that San Diego has proclaimed July 27, 2016 to be Mariachi Scholarship Foundation Day!! Here's a photo of my students receiving the proclamation. Thanks to Council Member David Alvarez and the entire city council for this honor, recognizing 20 years of mariachi education in San Diego.
And we are so happy to recognize the many people and institutions that are making the Summit possible, including Southwest Airlines, Union Bank, the National City Chamber of Commerce and TMD, SDGE, AT&T, People's Home Equity, Wawanisa, San Diego Symphony, Consulado General de México, SD Union Tribune, Southwestern College, Entravision, Univision, CECUT and many others.
